Prepare to be amazed as we venture into the winding paths of the Selva del Lamone, a forest described by Dante himself as “dark.” A magical place and an ancient forest where the last brigands of the Maremma, such as Domenico Tiburzi, hid. We will also see the places where the ancient trade of charcoal burning took place, with charcoal burners spending months inside the dense forest to produce the charcoal needed to heat our homes during the winter. We will also explore human settlements and Etruscan tombs that have been forgotten and hidden for millennia by unique vegetation famous for its biodiversity. At the end of the excursion, there is the option of eating at a local restaurant inside the reserve run by Vittorio, who only uses farm-to-table products.
