Activity itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Bratislava, Slovakia´s capital.
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: Not included
  • Accommodation: Hotel - Bratislava
Bratislava Old Town
  • 1d
Today you’ll fly to Bratislava – or Vienna, if you prefer – and we’ll provide a free group transfer to your hotel. Your tour leader will meet you when you get there and run you through the essentials. At 5PM, they’ll take you on a guided walk through Bratislava’s old town. See if you can spot Bratislava Castle – thanks to its position on top of the hill it’s hard to miss. And keep an eye out for somewhere nice to eat, because you’ll have the evening free to head off for dinner. It’s a good idea to arrange your flight with plenty of time to get to your hotel before the walking tour, but if you can’t make it for this time don’t worry – your guide will leave a note for you in the hotel’s reception and you can join the group later on.
Day 2: Take a fast train to the Tatra Mountains.
  • 2 stops
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Hotel - Tatranska Lomnica
Poprad
  • 4h
After breakfast you’ll transfer to Bratislava´s train station and take a 3.5-hour scenic train journey to the Tatra Mountains, the biggest and oldest national park in Slovakia. Our base for the week will be Tatranska Lomnica, one of the most popular villages in the Tatras, and the perfect starting point for many popular walking trails. In the afternoon you’ll be taken on an introductory walk in the village to get to know your surroundings.
Tatranska Lomnica

Our base for the week will be Tatranska Lomnica, one of the most popular villages in the Tatras, and the perfect starting point for many popular walking trails. In the afternoon you’ll be taken on an introductory walk in the village to get to know your surroundings.
Day 3: Ride a cable car to Skalnate Pleso, trek to Velka Svistovka and descend to Zelene Pleso Hut.
  • 2 stops
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Hotel - Tatranska Lomnica
Skalnate pleso
  • 1h
After a good breakfast, you’ll take a cable car ride to the mountain lake of Skalnate Pleso (1751m). This crystal-clear lake is surrounded by forested hills and towering granite peaks, and there’s an astronomical and meteorological observatory near the top, which you’ll have time to look around.
Zelene pleso
  • 5h
Velka Svistovka (2,037m) is next on our route, well-known for its high concentration of Tatra chamois. Endemic to the High and Low Tatras, Tatra chamois are a rare subspecies of the chamois. It’s thought that there are only about 600 left. They often wander around in this alpine terrain, close to where you will be walking. The trail is secured by chains on a few of the more difficult sections, but the mountain provides an accessible and gratifying climb. From the summit of Velka Svistovka, make your descent to the Zelene Pleso Hut secured by chains. Located at the glacier lake of the same name this is an absolutely beautiful spot for lunch. From Zelene Pleso you’ll continue to Biela Voda, then take a public bus back to Tatranska Lomnica, which is only about 10 minutes away. Total walking Distance: 13 km Total ascent: 486 m Total descent: 1140 m Max elevation: 2003 m Min elevation: 924 m
Day 4: Hike through the beautiful Studena Dolina Valley to Zbojnicka, or ´Robbers´, Hut.
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Hotel - Tatranska Lomnica
Stary Smokovec
  • 6h
After breakfast you´ll take a mountain tram to Stary ´old´ Smokovec, the oldest village in the Tatras, followed by a funicular to Hrebienok (1285m) the starting point of our walk. Today you’ll hike through the Studena Dolina Valley. From its narrow beginnings, the valley gradually gets wider; terraces harbouring mountain lakes tower above. Pause and enjoy the sight of colourful flowers, scent of pine trees and sound of rare birds singing in the mountains as you traverse the valley. The valley leads you up to Zbojnicka, or ´Robbers´, Hut, where you can enjoy a traditional lunch of soup and dumplings. Zbonicka (‘robbers’) Hut is one of the highest at an altitude of (1,960m) and still a popular base for trekkers. Its name harks back to the days when it was a hunters’ hut, and poachers used to stalk the valley. Your hike ends where it started, at Hrebienok. From here, you take a funicular and tram back to your hotel and a well-earned dinner! Total walking Distance: 12 km Total ascent: 979 m Total descent: 979 m Max elevation: 1960 m Min elevation: 1265 m
Day 5: Spend a day walking via mountain huts – Zamkovskeho, Teryho and Rainerova – and Cold Creek Waterfalls.
  • 4 stops
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Hotel - Tatranska Lomnica
Skalnate pleso
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
Today, your starting point is once again Skalnate Pleso, from where you’ll trek to three of the Tatras’ mountain huts. Mountain huts have been part of the fabric of the Tatras for years; they’re traditional, welcoming and often have a story to tell. They provide lovely lunches for you to re-fuel, too!
Rainerova Chata
  • 1h
Your hike will take you via Rainerova, the oldest hut in the mountains. It dates back to 1863 and today is a small stone building serving drinks and snacks.
Tery Lodge
  • 2h
Teryho Hut is one of the highest in the High Tatras, and Zamkovskeho is a quaint wooden chalet offering the perfect, shady resting spot.
Cold Water Waterfall
  • 1h
Your route will also take you via Cold Creek Waterfalls. These waterfalls start where the Great Cold Creek meets the Small Cold Creek and tumble their way over rocks and boulders, and through pine forests. Walking trails will take you alongside the fizzy cascades. From Hrebienok, you’ll descend to Smokovec by funicular cable car and take the mountain tram back to Tatranska Lomnica. Total walking Distance: 9 km Ascent: 540 m Descent: 730 m.
Day 6: Enjoy a free day.
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Hotel - Tatranska Lomnica
Vysoke Tatry
  • 1d
After three days of walking this day is left free to relax. You can visit one of the water parks in the foothills of the Tatras offering indoor and outdoor thermal pools and wellness centres. If you fancy a different adventure, try rafting in Pieniny National Park. A classic or traditional rafting trip through the Dunajec Gorge is a great way to soak up the views from a different perspective. Hiring an E-bike is also an option if you want to explore the surroundings on a bike. If you’re a cave lover, then Belianska Cave should be on your list, too. Cultural trips are also nearby. Spissky Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and dates back to the 12th century. Located on a hilltop above the town of Spisske Podhradie and Zehra village, it was built as the political, administrative, economic and cultural centre of the region. Levoca is renowned for its authentic and well-preserved architectural profiles of the old medieval town. Explore the historic centre, including the museum and St. James’ church, with the highest wooden altar in the world. We have some great trips to choose from and can certainly help you to plan and book them – your guide will be there to help.
Day 7: Walk through the Mlynicka and Furkotska Valleys to Skok Waterfall and Soliskom Hut (1840m).
  • 3 stops
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Hotel - Tatranska Lomnica
Strbske Pleso
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
After a day of relaxation we have a long but amazing day ahead of us trekking through the Mlynicka and Furkotska Valleys. Today’s trek starts with a tram journey through the Tatras’ most famous settlements to Strbske Pleso (1347m), Slovakia´s highest village and home to a beautiful glacial lake. The village is one of the most popular destinations in Slovakia as it provides many kilometres of hiking routes and the chance to admire the lake itself.
Furkotská dolina
  • 4h
From here, you´ll follow a trail to Skok waterfall. The hiking trail is waymarked and leads you along a road to the peace and tranquillity of the pine-forested Mlynicka Valley. From here, a stony path squeezes you through hairpin turns to the foot of the waterfall, which drops 25m from the rocky ledge above. We think they are one of the High Tatras’ top ten attractions, because the cascading waters are beautiful as they tumble down the mountain into the pools below. We can make a stop here, maybe dipping your feet into the refreshing water while enjoying a picnic!
Predne Solisko
  • 1h
Continuing through the valleys, and passing a number of smaller glacial lakes, you’ll reach Pod Soliskom Hut, one of the newer mountain chalets in the region. From here you can enjoy far-reaching views of the Low Tatras. Descend to Strbske Pleso by cable car, and then by tram to your hotel at Tatranska Lomnica. Bear in mind that today´s route also involves trekking through sections that are secured with chains, and you’ll need a head for heights. Total walking Distance: 12 km Total ascent: 1108 m Total descent: 609 m Max elevation: 2295 m Min elevation: 1322 m
Day 8: Take a train back to Bratislava before heading home.
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Not included

  • 4h
This morning you’ll take a private transfer to Poprad, followed by a fast train back to Slovakia´s capital. We expect to arrive at Bratislava´s train station before noon.
