Explore Northern Thailand on an eight-day excursion from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai

Day 1: Arrival in Chiang Rai

Arrival in Chiang Rai airport, pick up and free at leisure. Overnight in Chiang Rai.

Day 2: Chiang Rai & Mae Kok River - Elephant riding (B)

Morning visit Wat Phra Kae, Wat Phra Singh and Baan Dam (Black House). Afternoon take a boat cruise on Mae Kok river from Chiang Rai to Karen village where you can watch elephants or feed them then take one-hour elephant trekking. Transfer back to Chiang Rai. Overnight in Chiang Rai.

Day 3: Chiang Rai – Mae Salong – Chiang Saen (B)

Morning, transfer to Mae Salon for climbing up and down the green hills, covered with tea plantations. Then visit two villages of ethnic minorities: the village Akah of Loyo, and the village Lisu of Ban Hanygo. On arrival in Golden Triangle, take boat trip on Mekong River to see Thailand, Burma & Laos triangle. Overnight in Chiang Saen

Day 4: Chiang Saen - Thaton Chiang Mai (B)

Morning transfer to Thaton and stop at Patai to meet the tribe of Padong Karen, famous for its women “giraffes” who wear copper rings around their neck to lengthen it. Afternoon, take the road to Chiang Mai and stop for a walk in Chiang Dao. Overnight in Chiang Mai

Day 5: City tour & Doi Suthep (B)

Morning walk around old town and visit beautiful temples of Chiang Mai: Wat Phra Singh temple, Wat Phan Tao temple, Wat Chedi Luang temple. Then stroll along small streets lined with traditional houses, where you will take rickshaw tour. Afternoon visit the Doi Suthep hill. Overnight in Chiang Mai.

Day 6: Chiang Mai – Cooking class & Mae Ping river cruise (B/L)

Morning join the Asian Scenic cooking class where you will learn how to cook 5 dishes of Thai foods. Afternoon take two-hour boat trip along the Mae Ping River . Overnight in Chiang Mai

Day 7: Chiang Mai – Doi Inthanon – Chiang Mai (B)

Morning transfer to Doi Inthanon National Park. On arrival, spend 2-3 hours trekking through the jungles to reach a stunning hidden waterfall and discover the Pagagayaw Karen hill tribe village. After that you will visit Napamaytanidol Chedi and Phra Mahatat Napaphon Bhumisiri. Transfer back to Chiang Mai for overnight.

Day 8: Chiang Mai Departure (B)

Morning transfer to Elephant Poopoo paper farm and practice making poopoo paper. Free at leisure until transfer to the airport for departure flight!
