What you can expect
Day 1: Tbilisi to Omalo
Begin your adventure with a scenic drive from Tbilisi via the Gombori Pass. Visit the Alaverdi Cathedral and drive through the Stori Gorge. Cross the Abano Pass, one of Europe’s most adventurous mountain roads, before arriving in Omalo.
In Omalo, visit the Tusheti Visitor Center and explore the Keselo Towers in Old Omalo. Check in at a family guesthouse and enjoy a traditional Georgian and Tushetian dinner. Spend the night in Omalo.
Day 2: Pirikiti Valley
After breakfast at the guesthouse, set off on a full-day exploration of the Pirikiti Valley. Visit medieval stone towers, traditional slate-stone houses, and the historic Dartlo courtroom, a unique part of Tushetian heritage. Enjoy lunch in nature surrounded by dramatic Caucasus landscapes. Return to Omalo for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Flexible Adventure Day
After breakfast at the guesthouse, choose your preferred experience. Opt for a hiking adventure to Oreti Lake or Nakaicho Pass, enjoying alpine meadows and panoramic mountain views. Alternatively, explore Tusheti’s valleys on horseback, guided by local horsemen. Or, stay in Omalo, explore the village at your own pace, and enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere. End the day with dinner and an overnight stay in the guesthouse.
Day 4: Remote Highland Villages
After breakfast, visit some of Tusheti’s remote and less-visited villages, including Bochorna, one of the highest permanently inhabited villages in Europe. Experience authentic highland life, panoramic viewpoints, and untouched landscapes far from mass tourism. Enjoy lunch in nature before returning to Omalo in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Diklo, Shenako, and Return to Tbilisi
After breakfast, visit Diklo, Old Diklo, Diklo Fortress, Shenako Village, and St. George Church. Enjoy views toward the Dagestan border and explore traditional Tushetian architecture. Return to Tbilisi via the Abano Pass, with scenic stops, a lunch break, and possible wildlife sightings along the way. Arrive in Tbilisi in the evening.
