After two hours, return for a hearty breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the famed home of mountain gorillas. Today is the long-awaited gorilla trekking adventure! After breakfast, head to the briefing point where a ranger explains the dos and don’ts of meeting these gentle giants, answering any questions before you set off. With sturdy hiking shoes and perhaps a hired porter to carry your gear, follow your ranger deep into the jungle to where trackers have found the gorilla family. The moment you meet them is unforgettable—one magical hour in their presence, each reaction unique yet equally awe-inspiring. If energy allows after the trek, opt for a nature walk to a waterfall and visit the Batwa pygmies, the forest’s original inhabitants, who will share their traditional lifestyle and ancient skills.

Today you journey to the “Switzerland of Africa.” Leaving Bwindi, the road winds through stunning scenery until terraced hills unfold before you. As you near Lake Bunyonyi, its beauty becomes clear—29 emerald islands scattered across what is said to be Africa’s second deepest lake. From the hills above Kabale town, the view is simply breathtaking. After a delicious lunch at the charming Bird Nest Resort, your home for the night, set off on a serene boat ride to explore the lake’s islands. Along the way, watch locals skillfully navigate traditional canoes, their main mode of transport between these peaceful, green isles.

Our adventure may be ending, but there’s one last highlight! On the drive back to Kampala, stop at the equator for a fascinating water experiment that reveals how forces differ on each side of the line.
