Activity itinerary

Perast (Pass by)
Situated on a peninsula that gracefully stretches into the blue waters of the Adriatic, the village of Perast is a gem in the Bay of Kotor, embodying a blend of natural beauty and a profound historical narrative. The Serbo-Croatian term for ‘finger,’ “prst”, seems to resonate in the name Perast, aptly describing its geographic position pointing towards the Verige strait, known as the “Iron Gates.” This spot, critical for controlling access to the inner bay, highlights Perast’s historic role under the Venetian Republic as a vital maritime sentinel. Despite its entrenched military role, Perast exudes an air of baroque beauty. The village’s architecture cleverly combines aesthetic grace with strategic fortification. Each building, from palatial homes to sacred structures, is designed with thick walls, gun ports, and strategic vantage points. Even the revered Our Lady of the Rocks church is outfitted with cannon ports, and its bell tower serves as a protective watchtower.
Our Lady of the Rocks

Nestled in the serene waters of the Bay of Kotor, The Lady of the Rocks stands as a testament to the sheer force of human faith and collective effort. This man-made island, conceived in the mid-15th century, was painstakingly built by the spirited folk of Perast, a quaint coastal village. These individuals, primarily military sailors under the dominion of the Venetian Republic, were not only skilled in the art of war but deeply rooted in their religious convictions and cultural heritage. Within the walls of the church lies a repository of culture and history, magnificently adorned with oil paintings by Tripo Kokolja, a master of the local arts. The church also showcases a vast collection of silver ex-voto gifts, each piece recounting stories of peril, prayer, and providence This place not only preserves the traditions of the past but also breathes life into the ongoing story of a people devoted to their faith and to each other.
Former Submarine Tunnel
  • 5m
Submarine tunnels in the Bay of Kotor encapsulate a unique blend of natural beauty and historical fortitude. Nestled within the stunning mountains and serene waters of the Adriatic and Mediterranean convergence, this locale is more than just a picturesque landscape. It serves as a formidable natural fortress with a rich history of military strategy and architectural ingenuity. Visitors to the bay can now explore these historical tunnels, gaining a glimpse into the clandestine naval operations of the past. The experience is often likened to being in a James Bond movie, adding an element of adventure and intrigue to the visit. These submarine tunnels are a highlight of many speed boat tours in the region, offering a cool retreat from the summer sun and a unique peek into the maritime military history of the Bay of Kotor. They stand as a testament to the ingenuity and strategic importance of the region, making them a must-see for history buffs and adventure seekers alike.
Mamula Island (Pass by)
In Venetian times, the island went by Rondina. Nowadays, a fort dominates nearly all of its surface. Lazarus von Mamula, an Austro-Hungarian general, put it up in 1853, along with two other fortifications at Prevlaka’s Cape Oštro and Luštica’s Cape Arza, to help ward off enemies from entering Kotor Bay. During World War II, however, the Mamula fort became a concentration camp. Today the Montenegrin government approved turning the site into a posh beach resort through a lease deal with Orascom Development Holding AG. Since the island is now a private property, it is not possible to stop on the island itself.
Blue Grotto
  • 30m

Visiting the Blue Cave is more than just a tourist activity; it's an immersive experience into the heart of Montenegro’s natural wonders. Whether you’re swimming in its luminous waters, snorkelling among the rocks, or simply enjoying the scenery, the Blue Cave offers a unique way to appreciate the intricate relationship between land, sea, and sunlight. This captivating destination continues to enchant visitors, securing its place as a must-see highlight in the Adriatic.

VERY IMPORTANT: We have adjusted our tour time to match the new speed limitations that we expect will take place this season. This trip was previously done in 3 hours (with same stops time at each highlight). Until this new law is adopted, you have a CHOICE: do either this one or the 3 hours version with 1 extra hour to choose to further customize your experience. Either by spending more time at any of the included locations or an extra stop somewhere on route. We and our skippers can provide you with options.
