Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest

Start by meeting your guide at the agreed spot (East Gate for Package 1; your hotel lobby for Package 2&3). Enter through the East Gate—if you visit in the morning, you’ll be greeted by the lively daily life of Beijing’s retirees: some singing folk songs, others practicing tai chi. Feel free to join in briefly to soak up the local vibe before starting the tour. First stop: the iconic Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests—the triple-eaved building that stands as the heart of the Temple of Heaven. The 38-meter-tall wooden frame, built entirely without a single nail, held together by interlocking brackets that showcase ancient Chinese craftsmanship at its finest. Your guide will draw your attention to the 28 giant wooden pillars, explaining how each set serves a symbolic purpose. After exploring the main hall, your guide will take you to the two small museums flanking the courtyard, and a small hall behind the Hall of Prayer, which was once the storage space for imperial ancestral tablets.

Danbi Bridge

You will stand on it and “communicate directly with the god of heaven.” They might even encourage you to say a quiet wish, keeping the tradition of imperial prayer alive in a gentle, personal way.

Once the temple portion of your tour wraps up. For the basic package, your guide will summarize the key stories and details you’ve learned, then bid you farewell—leaving you free to explore the remaining grounds, like the scenic Long Corridor, on your own or exit via the South Gate.
