What you can expect

Day 1
9:00am Head to Salt City. Salt: is a hillside town near Amman, Jordan. Its significance as an Ottoman Empire trading hub is reflected in its Ottoman architecture. The early-20th-century Abu Jaber mansion, now the Historic Old Salt Museum, has Italian frescoed ceilings. An Ottoman mosque overlooks Hammam Street with its food market. The Archaeological Museum focuses on finds from the Chalcolithic era (4500–3300 B.C.) to the 16th century. ( 2- 3 hours visit).

Later, transfer to Jerash (around 1:15 hour drive), have a delectable lunch at Um Khalil Restaurant before start touring around. Jerash: is situated on a plain surrounded by wooded hilly areas and fertile basins. Conquered by General Pompey in 63 BC J.C., the city fell into the hands of the Romans and was one of the top ten cities of the empire, within the Confederation of the Decapolis. The city enjoyed its golden age during the Roman reign, a period when it was known as Gerasa. Today, this site is considered one of the best preserved Roman provincial cities in the world. Hidden under the sand for centuries before being discovered and restored for 70 years, Jerash is the epitome of extensive and formal Roman municipal planning throughout the Middle East. It is decorated with cobbled streets, colonnades, huge temples on the crest of the hills, delightful theaters, spacious public squares, thermal baths, fountains and walls pierced by towers and grilles.

Then in the late afternoon head to Ajloun Nature Reserve for dinner and overnight at the Cabins.

Day2
After an easy breakfast on this day, you will have some free time to enjoy the reserve and the relaxing atmosphere that will allow you to interact with nature. You may choose to try the self-guided Roe Deer trail before gathering again to continue the day by visiting Pella, Ajloun Castle and Anjara before heading back to Amman where the trip ends.

Ajloun Castle: (Qal’at AR-Rabad) was built by one of Saladin's generals in AD 1184 to control the local iron mines and prevent the Franks from invading the city. It dominated the three main roads to the Jordan Valley, which allowed for surveillance of trade routes between Jordan and Syria. He became an important link in the chain of defense against the Crusaders who, for decades, tried in vain to seize the castle and the nearby village. Ajloun is only a short distance from Jerash through the pine forest and the olive groves. The site is home to a large number of ancient sites such as water mills, forts and villages in the beautiful hills and valleys of northern Jordan.

Anjara: is an ancient town located at northern Jordan in the Ajloun Governorate. The city is situated 4 kilometers to the west of Ajloun, and 73 kilometers to the north of the Jordanian capital Amman.

Pella: is found in northwestern Jordan, 27.4 km south of the Sea of Galilee. Pella represents one of Ten Decapolis Cities that were founded during the Hellenistic period and became powerful under Roman jurisdiction.
