Day 1: Arrival, Safari, and Sunset on Lake Victoria
The day begins with a pick-up from Chato followed with a scenic boat transfer across Lake Victoria, which takes approximately 1 to 2 hours to reach Rubondo Island. Upon arrival at the island, you will check in to the Rubondo Island Lodge for a short relax.
The afternoon is dedicated to Island Exploration and Game Viewing. After settling in, you'll head out on a guided game drive or walking safari. This is your chance to discover the island's unique ecosystem, which is renowned for its diverse flora and fauna, including the introduced chimpanzees, various other primates, and abundant birdlife. Your guide will help you spot wildlife moving between the forest and the open savannah.
As evening approaches, enjoy a peaceful sunset boat ride on Lake Victoria. This experience, often called the “golden hour,” offers stunning lake views and a chance to encounter aquatic residents like hippos and a variety of waterbirds before heading back for dinner.
