Ten days in Tasmania enables us to explore more of Tasmania's wild places. We discover our famous national parks such as Cradle Mountain and Freycinet, but we also get to explore amazing natural landscapes like the Tarkine in North West Tasmania that are off the beaten track.

This tour finds a great balance between traveling around the state and exploring on foot with some easy-to-moderate walking options. This tour is motel-based only and includes many meals and great activities like the Gordon River Cruise and Port Arthur Historic Site.

A visit to Bonorong wildlife sanctuary to see Tasmanian devils and other wildlife is also a highlight of this tour. Departing Hobart/nipaluna, we quickly begin to venture into the rugged Western Wilds. Our first stop in the rainforests of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area is to see the beautiful Russell Falls in Mount Field National Park.

Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park

Scenes of mountains and buttongrass plains abound as we travel through the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park and stop to see the tannin-coloured waters of the Franklin River and take a short walk into the lovely Nelson Falls.

Queenstown

As we near the historic mining town, Queenstown, take in the impressive views of the Iron Blow Lookout and Mt Lyell. We’ll enjoy a group dinner and settle in for the night.

World Heritage Cruises

Departing from the harbourside village of Strahan, today we’ll cruise the Gordon River. This fantastic river cruise includes a guided boardwalk through the UNESCO World Heritage rainforest as well as a guided tour of the harshest penal settlement in Australia at Sarah Island. You’ll cruise through the treacherous Hells Gates which is a narrow passageway into Macquarie Harbour. Enjoy an included lunch onboard featuring Tasmanian produce. See the workings of a huon pine sawmill to further appreciate the history of this picturesque town.

Strahan

The Gordon River Cruise begins and ends in Strahan which is a picturesce harbourside village. Strahan is a gateway into the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. It sits within Macquarie Harbour and you'll be able to experience the lovely waterfront area before we depart to Tullah.

Tullah

On a clear day, this tiny township offers magnificent views of the rugged peaks of Mount Murchison. Tonight, we’ll enjoy a group dinner and relax in the lakeside chalet which sits on the shores of Lake Rosebery.

Hari 3: TULLAH > NORTHWEST COAST

Hellyer Gorge

See the impressive Hellyer Gorge as we travel to the North West Coast of Tasmania. Take in the lovely views of the Hellyer River and rainforest on this scenic drive.

Stanley

Stanley is the north west coast's most picturesque town and best known for the volcanic plug jutting out to sea called The Nut. We will enjoy lunch in town and explore some of its quaint areas before continuing on our journey.

Edge of the World

Breathe the world's freshest air at the Edge of the World, located in the township of Arthur River on the west coast of Tasmania. This wild country is part of the Tarkine/takayna coast and there exists a deep spiritual connection of this area to palawa (Tasmanian aboriginal) people. The dramatic ocean landscape will captivate you.

Marrawah

At Marrawah we'll check out one of Tasmania's best surf spots and show you preminghana/Mount Cameron West in the distance - a culturally significant place for palawa.

Smithton

We stay outside this rural north west town at a place called Tall Timbers, a terrific accommodation with a heated pool.

Hari 4: TARKINE > DEVONPORT

Trowutta Arch

Walk through the temperate rainforests of the Tarkine/takayna to the geological wonder of Trowutta Arch.

The Tarkine Drive

Today offers a deeper experience of the Tarkine. This ancient rainforest is the second largest cool temperate rainforest in the world. It is a wilderness area that holds ancient relics of animals and plants as well as palawa indigenous heritage sites from thousands of years ago. One of the stops today is at Sumac Lookout which offers breathtaking forest views across the Arthur River where we'll keep our eyes peeled for Wedge-tailed eagles.

Table Cape Lookout

As we return to the north west coast, we will stop by Table Cape and see the lighthouse while enjoying sweeping views across Bass Strait. At 180m above sea-level, Table Cape is a remnant volcano.

Boat Harbour Beach

Discover one of Tasmania's best beaches at Boat Harbour with its white sands and blue waters. Its easy to see why this place is a favourite Tasmanian holiday destination.

Penguin

See the big penguin in, you guessed it, the town called Penguin. This delightful little coastal town is on a great stretch of coastline that we'll follow as we make our way east towards Devonport.

Devonport

We'll spend the night in this small port city that sits at the mouth of the Mersey River.

Cradle Mountain

Discover the alpine and glacial landscapes of Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park. Your guide will help you make the most of a diversity of options to experience around the park, such as looking for wombats at Ronny Creek. You may wish to walk the outstanding Dove Lake Circuit - this 6km walk around the glacial lake beneath the peaks of Cradle Mountain is considered the best short walk in Tasmania.

Sheffield

Enjoy the Town of Murals, Sheffield, where brightly coloured murals decorate the buildings in town. This picturesque town is made even more lovely by the backdrop of Mount Roland which rises steeply from lush farmlands.

Mole Creek

Passing through the rolling green hills and picturesque landscapes of the Meander Valley, we'll stop in Mole Creek, Chudleigh, or another tiny rural town, as we make our way to Launceston.

Launceston

Explore Australia's second oldest city at your leisure this evening.

Our first stop today is at Cataract Gorge Nature Reserve. We will take a walk through the reserve and keep a look out for resident wallabies.

Bay of Fires

Today we will explore the Bay of Fires/larapuna. Clear waters, white sands and orange boulders are classic scenes from the Bay of Fires region, and you’ll love strolling along these pristine beaches.

Bicheno

Tonight’s destination is the charming coastal town of Bicheno, home of the little penguin. Bicheno is a popular place for locals and visitors and once you see the stunning location you'll understand why.

Richmond

Enjoy a great day out Australia's best preserved colonial village. Have lunch at a bakery, cafe or the local pub. Walk over the oldest convict built bridge in Australia, Richmond Bridge and see the range of heritage buildings.

Hobart

Back in Hobart, consider visiting Cascade Brewery for dinner with its fabulous beer garden and meal options at Australia's oldest operating brewery.

Hari 9: BRUNY ISLAND

Bruny Island

Today we’ll discover the highlights of Bruny Island. After a short drive from Hobart, we’ll take the ferry across the D’Entrecastreaux Channel to the island and the adventure truly begins. After seeing the sites today, should they wish, guests can try locally crafted products like honey, oysters, cheese, and beers (optional, at own expense). This is a fun and relaxing day out enjoying one of Tasmania's favourite islands for locals and visitors alike.

The Neck

At the isthmus between North and South Bruny, we’ll climb the 279 steps to the top of Truganini Lookout. Enjoy panoramic views from this outstanding viewpoint.
