Perkara yang anda boleh jangka

  • This mudflat hike takes you on a tour of discovery into the mudflat landscapes of the island of Sylt, led by Westerland-born outdoorsman Jan Krüger. Sylt is his home and his living space. As a national park mudflat guide and national park partner, he is now out and about in the Wadden Sea and on the island. For him, there is nothing better than enjoying the atmosphere of nature with a group.

The mudflat hike takes 1.5 to 2 hours. If temperatures permit, we like to go barefoot. In spring, autumn and winter we go out into the mudflats with rubber boots. No visit to Sylt would be complete without a trip to the Wadden Sea. Whether you go for a walk barefoot or with sturdy boots, exploring this unique landscape is an unforgettable adventure best enjoyed with a knowledgeable guide who will introduce you to the unpredictable tides.

Sylt lies in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein's Wadden Sea National Park, which extends over almost 4,500 km² and is Germany's largest national park. This remarkable area is teeming with diverse flora and fauna, including mussels, shore crabs and brown shrimp. In spring and autumn, millions of migratory birds stop here on their journey south or north and enjoy the rich resources of the Wadden Sea. Seals and gray seals live on the sandy beaches, and with a bit of luck visitors can even catch a glimpse of a porpoise. The Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009 and is proof of its importance for the preservation of such unique ecosystems.
