What you can expect

Tour Description

Discover the true essence of Santiago Island in a complete experience that combines culture, nature, and local traditions. Starting from the city of Praia, this tour takes you on one of the island's most authentic routes, exploring agricultural valleys, local communities, and Cape Verde's largest banana and coconut plantation.

Start of the experience

Your day starts with a pick-up from your hotel in Praia. Then we'll head towards the village of São Jorge, crossing one of the most fertile agricultural valleys on the island.

  1. São Jorge Agricultural Valley and Botanical Garden

The first stop will be at the Luís Grandvaux Botanical Garden. This place is an important center for the conservation of Cape Verdean flora and is located in an agricultural valley with a remarkable history in the region's agriculture.

During the visit, you can walk along trails surrounded by endemic species and learn about the work done to preserve local biodiversity. The São Jorge valley is also known for its traditional farming practices, which support many families in the community.

  1. Pedra Badejo and Ribeira Seca

We'll continue our journey towards the town of Pedra Badejo, with a stop at the Ribeira Seca dam. Here you'll have the chance to get up close to some local farming practices and observe the way of life of rural communities that have worked the land for generations.

  1. Visit the Largest Banana and Coconut Plantation

The highlight of the experience is the arrival at the largest banana and coconut plantation on the island of Santiago.

For about an hour, you'll take a guided tour inside the plantation, walking among extensive coconut and banana trees. Visitors will learn about the farming systems used by local farmers and the economic importance of this agricultural region for Cape Verde.

To round off the experience, you'll get to taste fresh local fruits, such as:

Coconut

Banana

Passion fruit (depending on the season)

A perfect moment to enjoy tropical flavors straight from the plantation.
