Perkara yang anda boleh jangka

On this visit, whose route we can adapt to the interests of the group, we will visit the main monuments of Malaga: the Roman Theatre, from the 1st century a.D., its gorgeous Alcazaba, trace of the city's Muslim past; and the Cathedral, also known by the people of Malaga as “La Manquita”. Essential symbols of the history and culture of Malaga. All the entrances are included.

This visit offers the opportunity to take a tour of the main historical attractions of Malaga and thus bring us the essence of this coastal city of Phoenician origin, through which a multitude of peoples and influences have passed: Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Visigoths, Muslims, Hebrews, Berbers, Christians, etc.

The Roman Theatre is the most significant preserved vestige of the Roman city of “Malacca”. It was a building for both recreational and political use, since it was a place to demonstrate power and social hierarchy. It remained hidden underground for several centuries. It was declared a Cultural Interest Asset with the category of Artistic Monument in 1972.

The Alcazaba of Malaga is a palatial fortification whose name in Arabic means “Citadel”, where the Muslim rulers of the city resided. Located on the slopes of Mount Gibralfaro, it was built in the 11th century, and was considered one of the best defensive constructions of the time, becoming nicknamed “the impenetrable” or “the impregnable.” In the 19th and 20th centuries it became a humble neighborhood, until it was declared a National Monument in 1931. After extensive restoration work, it is currently one of the best preserved examples of Islamic military architecture.

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Incarnation is known in Malaga as “La Manquita”. Its construction process was closely linked to the previous existence of the Aljama Mosque from the Muslim era. Looking at the main façade, we will notice that this construction was never completely finished. We will also analyze the importance of the Portal del Sagrario. Finally, inside the Cathedral, we will observe its structure of vaults and columns, the main altar, the main chapels, which have interesting artistic and religious expressions, and its choir with carved wooden stalls.
