Langa de Duero

The tower of Langa de Duero is the first view offered to the traveler when approaching the population. The Langa Tower, popularly called Cube Castle, today used as an exhibition space, is a saddlery construction approximately twenty meters high. The current tower dates back to the 14th century, although a Muslim watchtower that was part of the existing surveillance network in the 11th century and a complementary fortification were most likely occupied in the past. In the 15th century, Henry Henry, Duke of Medina Sidonia and half-brother of Queen Eleanor of Navarre was locked up there on the orders of John II. This tower is the last vestige of the fortification that defended the bridge across the Douro River. To cross this 12-eyed bridge of approximately 100 metres in length is to recall a part of our history, in which the river was not only a source of life but also a frontier and a site of confrontation between Muslims and Christians.

Castillejo de Robledo

El Cid acted on his own behalf without seeking permission from his king, Alfonso. This fact and the harshness of the attack contributed to triggering the first banishment of the Cid, which took place that same year.

Miedes de Atienza

It is through the Sierra de Pela where, according to the Song, the Cid descends with his men on the ninth day after leaving Vivar del Cid and enters Muslim territory. Close to Miedes is the "Peña del Cid", where local tradition places the place where Rodrigo Díaz camped on the imagined route of the Cantar.

Atienza
