Begin your hike in Forest Park, a lush oasis on the edges of Portland. Choose between a morning or afternoon departure, each offering a unique experience.
On the morning hike, explore a classic Northwest Portland trail, ending at the International Rose Test Garden. In the afternoon, start at Goose Hollow, near downtown Portland, and weave through neighborhoods before ascending into the park.
Pass iconic spots like the Japanese Garden, Pittock Mansion, and the Witch's Castle. As you walk, immerse yourself in the forestās tranquility, a place that feels both timeless and vibrant.
This trail includes 5.5 miles or 9 kilometers of hiking with a 800 feet or 275 meter elevation gain throughout the hike. It is a one-way hike that starts at a coffee shop at one end of the hike and ends a few miles away. The morning option will end at the Rose Garden while the roses are in bloom, and at another location in Washington Park (or, by request, as a loop) during the winter and early spring.
