After you have been collected in our nine-seater Portuguese UMM, we drive up to the Cannon miradouro to start our walk. Along the trail you will see the results of years of hard work to stabilise the landscape and tree planting in what was once an area left desolate. Nature has struggled to reclaim this area in what is a very dynamic environment. Water erosion has played a great part in the shaping of the hill sides and has exposed a great deal of the past volcanic activity which formed this island. The walk varies - steady climbs, reasonably flat paths, areas in trees and open fields.
The views are spectacular and change with each corner passed. With the exception of the birds the route is generally quiet with few other walkers. Our walk is circular to maximise the views over this ancient island.
