Hokkaido Winter Day Tour (Sapporo Departure)
Start your winter adventure amid Hokkaido’s famous powdery snow—with pickups at Odori Park Subway Station or JR Sapporo Station. Settle into the heated bus, shielding you from Hokkaido’s crisp winter chill, as your guide shares tips for navigating the snow and essential safety advice.
First stop: Weekdays take you to Furano’s Ningle Terrace—a fairy-tale forest spot inspired by author Kenji Miyazawa, where wooden huts are draped in soft snow. Browse cozy stalls for lavender souvenirs or ice-themed glassware, with the crisp winter air carrying a faint whiff of wood. *If the Forest Fairy Terrace is closed and inaccessible on Japanese weekends, public holidays, or due to traffic restrictions, the visit will be replaced with a tour of the Takushinkan Museum,From the floor-to-ceiling windows inside the museum, you can overlook the snow-covered landscape of Biei. Combined with the snow-themed photography works on display, it offers you an immersive experience of the unique romance created by the interplay of warm winter sunshine and shimmering ice and snow light.
Next, explore Shikisai-no-oka: gaze out at endless powdery snow fields blending with distant snow-capped mountains under a bright winter sky, perfect for photos with that iconic Hokkaido “winter vastness.” Opt for a snowmobile ride (¥20,000/double, ¥15,000/single; cost extra, confirm with your guide) or enjoy free fun—like snowball fights with Hokkaido’s fluffy snow. Note: No snowmobiling Dec 1–Mar.15, 2026 (thin snow); no alternative spots if you skip it.As it is near the end of winter, if there is insufficient snow cover, for safety reasons we will replace the optional snowmobile activity with other sightseeing spots.
Please consider this risk carefully before booking.
Then, a drive-by of the iconic Ken & Mary Tree—its branches heavy with snow, framed by a sea of white. Your guide pauses at prime spots for in-vehicle photos, so you can capture the winter sunlight glinting off the snow without braving the cold.
Final stop: Asahiyama Zoo (admission included). Its “natural habitat” enclosures let you watch animals thrive in snow—like penguins waddling on powdery drifts, a classic Hokkaido winter sight. The guide helps with group check-in for hassle-free entry.
Afterward, relax on the return to Sapporo, with memories of Hokkaido’s winter magic.
