Next we head to the old Yugoslav Navy submarine base, carved into the rock at Zanjic. We cruise into the tunnels once used to shelter submarines, a mix of history and scenery you won't find on a standard group tour.

Passing Mamula Island
From there we pass Mamula Island, a 19th-century fortress that once guarded the entrance to the bay. It's a good photo stop and a small window into the region's military history.

Blue Cave Swim Time
Then comes the part many guests came for: the Blue Cave. A local regulation now keeps motorized boats from entering, so the cave stays quiet, with no engine noise or exhaust fumes. We anchor 10 to 20 meters from the entrance and you swim in yourself, right up to the glowing blue water.
