Halle (Saale) boasts over 1,200 years of history – and it is precisely this diversity that you will discover on this classic 2-hour Old Town tour. Together with a guide certified by the Federal Association of Tourist Guides, you will experience the most important landmarks in the city center and learn how architecture, music and the city's history continue to shape the cityscape to this day.

The meeting point is the Handel Monument on the Market Square. Your journey through time starts here: You will learn about how the square came into being and see how Halle's famous “Five Towers” and the Gothic St. Mary's Church dominate the panorama. There is also an optional short guided tour inside the Market Church (with advance booking). There will also be anecdotes from the life of George Frideric Handel, the answer to the question of where the name “Red Tower” comes from, and what significance the Roland statue has.

You will then continue through the winding streets of the Old Town to the birthplace of George Frideric Handel (Handel House) and Halle Cathedral, whose history and architecture are as eventful as they are fascinating. There is also an optional short guided tour inside the cathedral (depending on opening hours). The walking tour then takes you to Moritzburg (courtyard), an important venue for art and city history and, at the same time, the youngest of all the castles on the Saale.

You will then pass through squares and rows of houses from the Gründerzeit period before finally arriving at Universitätsplatz with its neoclassical Löwengebäude (Lion Building).
