The Aragonese Castle is the symbol of Ischia and stands on an islet to the east of the island, connected to the ancient village of Ischia Ponte by a 220-meter-long masonry bridge. It is accessed through a tunnel carved into the rock and illuminated by skylights, which connects to a mule track that leads to the top of the islet. From here, other narrow streets with various paths lead to the different buildings and gardens that are part of the castle. During the visit, you can admire the Church of the Immaculate Conception, the convent and cemetery of the Poor Clares, the Cathedral of the Assumption with its crypt, the Church of San Pietro a Pantaniello, the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the political prisons, the panoramic terrace of the olive trees, the vegetable gardens, and the vineyards. All while enjoying a breathtaking panorama from 113 meters above sea level.
