The hike to the Santa Ana volcano (also known as Ilamatepeq) is an unforgettable experience for nature and adventure lovers. Located in the west of the country, this volcano is the highest in El Salvador, reaching a height of 2,381 meters above sea level. When you start the hike, you will feel surrounded by a lush flora and fauna, where it is common to see diverse species of birds and endemic plants. As you progress along the path, the difficulty increases, but the landscape that unfolds in front of you makes each step worthwhile. The first sections are surrounded by cloud forests, providing a sense of mystery and tranquility.
