Set off on a van tour of Faial and discover incredible views waiting around every corner. Enjoy the unique opportunity to visit the Capelinhos Volcano Interpretation Center, where you’ll learn about the island’s history and the preservation of its natural treasures.
This full-day tour lasts approximately 7 hours and begins in Horta, heading to the natural reserve of the Caldeira of Faial, surrounded by vibrant blue hydrangeas, the reason Faial is known as the “Blue Island.” The journey continues toward the Ribeira das Cabras viewpoint, along the scenic Serra of Feteira.
We then stop for a delicious homemade-style lunch at Campo dos Sabores.
In the afternoon, we descend to the Fajã in Praia do Norte, a charming spot with a small beach and traditional stone houses (adegas) once used for local wine production. Next, we visit the Capelinhos Volcano, the most recent volcano in Europe, formed during the 1957–58 eruption. Here, you can admire its magnificent desert-like landscapes and explore the Capelinhos Volcano Interpretation Center.
On the way back to Horta along the south coast, we make a quick stop at Varadouro to admire the striking Morro of Castelo Branco, before ending the day at Monte da Guia, where you’ll enjoy one of the best views of Horta and the Bay of Porto Pim.
