Embark on a day trip to Kairouan, Tunisia’s holiest city, from Sousse. Explore the Roman amphitheater of El Djem and visit the Great Mosque of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, with lunch and entry tickets included.

Kick off the tour with a pickup, and head to the walled city of Kairouan. Protected by sandstone walls, the medina offers quiet narrow streets, and whitewashed houses with brightly painted shutters and brick-laid archways, perfect for exploring.

See the Great Mosque, considered one of the finest examples of Islamic architecture in the region. Along with the splendid interior, admire the large prayer hall, a courtyard, and a minaret. Then, visit the Sidi Sahbi Mausoleum, known for its beautiful tilework and stucco decorations.

Stop for lunch before visiting El Djem, the third-largest amphitheater built by the Romans. During its heyday, up to 35,000 spectators would pack its stands to see gladiator fights. Today, you can still view the impressive structure that has endured the test of time and discover its significance.
