Your day begins with convenient meeting points at Nagoya Station: main group gathers at 08:00 (Taiko-dori Exit), while small-group participants can meet at 08:20 (West Exit). At approximately 11:00, you will arrive in Takayama, where you have about two hours of free exploration. Visit the lively Miyagawa Morning Market to sample local produce and crafts, wander along the atmospheric Sanmachi Suji historic street lined with wooden merchant houses and sake breweries, and step inside Takayama Jinya, a well-preserved former government office from the feudal era.
By 14:00, the tour reaches the highlight – Shirakawa-go Gassho-zukuri Village, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will have around two hours to immerse yourself in this pastoral landscape. For the best panoramic view, you can walk up to the observation deck via a scenic woodland path (about 15 minutes one way) or take the convenient village shuttle bus (300 yen per one-way trip, coins only; buses depart from the Wada House stop roughly every 20 minutes). The tour is available in two formats. The regular large group allows infants aged 0–2 to ride free on a parent’s lap (without a seat); children 3 years and older pay the adult rate. The premium 9-person small group offers a more intimate experience, requires a minimum of 4 participants to operate (bookings accepted from 2 persons), and charges the same fare for adults and children.
