Coming to the breathtaking mountains of Pico do Arieiro at 1800m above sea level where the 4 seasons are visible, sometimes the drive can be over the clouds leaving all guests speechless with so much natural beauty. Descending thousand metres to Ribeiro Frio where you will find the trout hatchery and the Santana Laurel Forest UNESCO BIOSPHERE RESERVE. The short easy walk along the Levada of Balcões embraces the very old laurel trees, arriving in the viewpoint the scenery over the mountains, valley, village of Faial and the Eagles Rock, birds come to greet our guests. This walk is optional, Guests that dont wish to walk they stay in Ribeiro Frio and walk around this place. Taking the old road of Faial, along the small steep slops of vegetable and fruit terraces.
Santana will be the next stop where you will find the traditional thatched houses and vines. A stop for lunch to enjoy the traditional Maderian Dishes, (not included in the price), visit the theme park and for good walkers a visit to the cable car and on the weekends, there is the famous farmers market where the local people sell all their fruits and vegetables. Still in Santana a visit to the skywalk bridge Guindaste is a compulsory stop. Beautiful view over the ocean, Eagles Rock and Porto Santo Island.
Porto da Cruz along the North coast sugar cane terraces is still visible. Therefore, a stop at the old the only distillery where the machines are operated in the spring on steam in Madeira. Rum tasting is also included and a visit to the village, beach where sometimes the surfers entertain the visitors. Leaving the North unto the Southeast coast the old capital of Madeira Machico where the first Portuguese settlers arrived in the 15 centuries. The next stop is at Ponta de São Lourenço Ponta do Rosto the eastern point cape of the Island where the rock formation will astound you this no doubt the cherry on top of the cake of our tour.
After a long amazing day the tour will come to an end with the drive along Machico, Santa Cruz Airport pillars and the return to the Hotels at around 17h00.
