Considered to be the oldest tree in recorded history (over 2,200 years old) and one of the most sacred relics for Buddhists all over the world, Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya holds a very sacred place for all Buddhists. It’s such a calm and peaceful place. As soon as you walk in enjoy the slow pace and serenity of the place. You can feel peaceful by just sitting under the tree or walking around it slowly.

Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, considered a marvel for its architectural qualities ,is one of the 8 sacred places in Sri Lanka. The moment you step into the premises, you feel a deep sense of peace and reverence. The stupa is massive in size and beautifully maintained, glowing white under the sun during the day and illuminated softly at night. Experience the bliss in the peaceful atmosphere , with devotees engaged in prayers, chanting, and meditation.

After lunch, continue to Polonnaruwa, 2.5 hours of scenic drive. Polonnaruwa is a fantastic city of architecture and ruins.

The Gal Vihara is a rock temple of the Buddha situated in the ancient city Polonnaruwa. he rock carved Buddha statues are absolutely stunning and full of history. You can really feel the calm and sacred energy there. The rock-cut Buddha statues are absolutely stunning, showcasing the incredible craftsmanship and spiritual depth of ancient Sri Lankan art. Each sculpture, carved into a single granite rock, radiates a sense of peace and serenity. Royal Palace-Witness a slice of history while walking around the ruins of the palace. A historical record says that it had 1000 rooms, but today you can see only ruins of 55. The building is made up with thick brick walls. Still you can see the remaining two arrays of holes, done on the wall to hold the structure of the wooden floor. You have to climb few steps and reach the palace premises. The middle area dedicated for king and its 100 feet in width and length.

Driving 1.5 hours from Polonnaruwa, you will reach to iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Witness ancient frescoes and panoramic views. Get ready to climb 1200 steps -the climb is definitely a workout—challenging enough to make you feel accomplished, but completely manageable. Along the way, there’s a lot to see—from ancient frescoes and the mirrored wall to the massive lion paws carved into the rock about halfway up. The whole site is rich with history. Recommend to plan the ascent early morning to enjoy the breeze and avoid the mid day heat.

After Sigiriya, proceed to Dambulla Golden Cave Temple which is half an hour drive from Sigiriya. Marvel at the Sri Lanka's largest and best preserved cave temple complex adorned with over 150 buddha statues and vivid murals. There are more than eighty documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Gautama Buddha and his life.

Visit the beautiful city of Matale ,the city is surrounded by large plantations and is famous for its spice gardens. Experience the exotic spices from Sri Lanka-strong aromatic pepper, cinnamon and cloves.

After Matale, continue towards Kandy which is also called the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. The main attraction of the city and the most sacred temple where one of Buddha's teeth is being kept. The temple which is venerated by thousands of local & foreign devotees and tourists daily was named as a world heritage by UNESCO in 1988. A dress code applies for entering the temple which is modest dressing -knees and shoulders need to be covered.

Be ready to be mesmerized in the evening by Kandyan dance show. Kandy cultural show captivates your ears and eyes with spectacular displays of local culture and art. You will see drummers, fire dancers, and more in a cultural spectacle covering various aspects of Sri Lanka's traditions in this one-hour show.

Next day morning, drive for 1.5 hours from Kandy to Knuckles Mountain Range. Embark on a nature trek in the Knuckles Mountain Range,a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its biodiversity and scenic beauty. The Knuckles Mountain Range is a mesmerizing gem of Sri Lanka, offering breathtaking landscapes and unmatched tranquility. The mist-covered peaks, lush forests, and cascading waterfalls create a serene escape from the busy world. Its rich biodiversity, from vibrant flora to unique fauna, adds charm to every hike. The cool climate and crisp air rejuvenate the soul, while ancient villages and cultural stories enrich the experience.

Drive for 2.5 hours from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya through lush tea plantations. Nuwara Eliya is also referred to as 'Little England'. Visit Tea Factory to observe tea-making process and sample fresh Ceylon Tea. Explore the town's colonial architecture and serene landscapes.

Enjoy the stunning scenery and rewarding hiking experience in Hortons Plains National Park. The 9km circular trail is considered a rewarding challenge, with stunning views. The trails are well-maintained, making the hike accessible to a range of fitness levels. Tt's surroundings, forests and the adjoining peak wilderness constitute Sri Lanka's most important catchment area of almost all major rivers.

Bakers Falls, located in Sri Lanka’s Horton Plains National Park, is a stunning 20-meter waterfall surrounded by lush greenery and misty landscapes is a good mix of scenic beauty and adventure. The trek to the falls, about 3 kilometers from the main trail, offers a mix of forested paths and open grasslands, making it a rewarding experience for nature lovers. The sound of cascading water, coupled with the tranquil atmosphere, creates a perfect spot for relaxation and photography.

Next day you start your day with a scenice drive to Nanu Oya railway station for a beautiful train journey to Ella.The train ride will tae you through verdant hills and tea estate. The driver/guide will take you to Nanu Oya station and assist you with your train tickets and then wait for your arrival at the Ella station.

Upon arrival in Ella ,visit Nine Arches Bridge,an architectural marvel from the colonial era. This beautiful viaduct, nestled amidst lush greenery, offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. You will need to walk through a lush green trail for half an hour to reach the bridge.

In the evening you can walk through the bustling streets of Ella, surrounded by cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. You can enjoy the live music, fresh food, multi cuisine restaurants and pubs in the small town which has something for everyone.

Drive from Ella to Udawalawe for 2 hours to visit Elephant Transit Home and observe the rehabilitation of orphaned elephants. In the afternoon, embark on a safari in Udawalawe National Park renowned for its large elephants populations and diverse wild life like turtles, crocodiles, mungos, peacocks, and many other species.

Explore the Sinharaja Rainforest, UNESCO World Heritage Site teeming with endemic flora and fauna. Enjoy a guided walk through the dense jungle, immersing yourself in it's rich bio diversity.

Drive 3 hours from Sinharaja to Galle. Explore the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stroll through its cobblestone streets, visit colonial -era buildings and enjoy the coastal ambience. Inside the Fort is a mixture of architecture, with Dutch-colonial buildings, ancient mosques and churches, and grand mansions. Here, you will find cafés, restaurants, boutiques, museums, and hotels. It is also a thriving commercial centre.

Spend the day at your leisure in Galle. Relax on the beach, explore the local markets or delve deeper into fort's history. Optional activites include a mask making workshop or a visit to nearby beaches.

Enroute to the airport, stop in Bentota to visit the Brief Garden, designed by renowned artist Geoffrey Bawa.The garden is vast, with winding paths leading to countless beautiful and peaceful spots—each offering a unique blend of art, architecture, and nature. It’s a living canvas that reflects history and elegance.

Enjoy a boat ride along the Madu River and get the unique experience of exploring the mangrove forests and islands. The boat ride will take you to cinnamon island where you can see how cinnamon is extracted from the bark. You can also enjoy fish therapy or the chance to see wildlife like monkeys, lizards, and birds.
