During this tour you will be able to visit the first ever European capital of culture in Bulgaria - Plovdiv, recognized as one of the oldest existing settlements in the world. You will be able to feel the spirit of the seven hills, old town, longest pedestrian street in the European Union, Bohemian quarter The Trap (“Kapana”) or try the local “bichene na aylyak” (traditional way of enjoying life here).

Plovdiv is one of the oldest towns in Europe. It was inhabited by the Thracians, Romans, Slavs, Bulgarians, Ottomans, whose traces have turned the town into a living museum. Multicultural and multi-religious settlement with own spirit. Places of special interest are the old town, revival houses and churches, Roman stadium, Roman Theatre, old mosque. You can enjoy life drinking coffee or beer in the Bohemian quarter Kapana, shopping in the main pedestrian street or walking in the city park.

Hisar Kapia (Sambil lalu)

Main gate of the old town of Plovdiv, part of the town's inner fortifications, Hisar Kapia (literally from Turkish - "fortress gate") preserves traces from many epochs. Over the ancient walls, there are mediaeval and Ottoman layers. In the 19th century, local wealthy tradesmen built their beautiful houses directly over the old fortifications, creating the charming architectural ensemble you can see today.

Ethnographic Museum

Housed in the house of local tradesman Argir Kuyumdzhioglu, built in 1847, this is one of the most interesting ethnographic museums in Bulgaria. It preserves and presents the traditional culture of Plovdiv, the Thracian Lowland and the Rhodope Mountains.

The remains of the ancient Roman stadium of Philippopolis can be seen in several archaeological complexes below the main pedestrian street of modern Plovdiv. This is a huge structure stretching for 250 meters, that once could house up to 30 000 spectators.
