Discover the Soul of Samba da Bahia! Guided by a local instructor, you’ll learn samba while exploring the Afro-Brazilian rhythms and musicality behind the dance. Throughout the class, you’ll discover how movement connects with music, history, and culture, gaining an appreciation of samba beyond the choreography. During the workshop, you will: -Learn the movements and feel of Samba da Bahia. -Explore Afro-Brazilian rhythms and how they influence the dance. -Discover samba’s historical roots and its importance in Bahia’s cultural identity. -Connect with the music, expression, and energy that make Bahia samba unique. No previous dance experience or partner is required. Whether you are a beginner or a dancer, this is an opportunity to move, listen, learn, and connect with OUR culture beyond the steps. A Historic Cultural Setting: The workshop takes place at the historic first Capoeira school in Brazil, founded by Mestre Bimba, creator of Capoeira Regional. This space represents an important chapter in Salvador’s history of Afro-Brazilian cultural preservation and resistance. This is an opportunity to dance, learn, and connect with the authentic cultural spirit of Bahia.
