Discover some of Slovakia’s most spectacular natural and cultural landmarks on a full-day small-group guided tour from Bratislava. Travel comfortably with a local guide and explore the legendary Orava Castle, the breathtaking Demänová Cave, and the iconic mountain destination of Štrbské Pleso in the High Tatras, while also enjoying a stop for lunch at a traditional Slovak restaurant where you can experience local cuisine.
Your journey begins with complimentary pickup in Bratislava, after which we will drive towards the mountainous region of northern Slovakia. Our first stop will be Orava Castle, one of Slovakia’s most iconic and well-preserved medieval castles. Often referred to as the real Dracula Castle, it served as a filming location for the classic 1922 vampire movie - Nosferatu. We will guide you through the fascinating interiors where you can learn about the castle’s history, architecture, and local traditions. Enjoy panoramic views above the Orava River and the beautiful surrounding scenery. This will also be the first photography stop, where your guide will take professional photos of you at some of the castle’s most picturesque locations. (Entrance fee to the castle is included).
The tour then continues to one of the most spectacular caves in Central Europe - the Demänová Cave of Liberty, where we will join an official cave tour led by a professional cave guide and discover remarkable chambers, underground river, emerald green lakes and flowstone waterfalls, all deep below the surface. A part of the cave tour is also a stunning light show, projected in one of the chambers. (Entrance fee to the cave is included)
The final stop on our tour will be Štrbské Pleso in the High Tatras, which is Slovakia’s most popular mountain destination. Enjoy a walk around the picturesque glacial lake surrounded by alpine peaks and forests while learning more about the nature and history of the Carpathian Mountains. This is another photography spot of the tour, where your guide will capture professional photos against the spectacular mountain landscape. You will also have free time to explore Štrbské Pleso at your own pace, shop for local products and souvenirs, or have a meal at one of the local restaurants.
Throughout the day, enjoy a relaxed pace, bottled water, light snacks, comfortable transportation, and personal attention from your guide. Depending on the weather, we might make additional short stops to explore even more of the country, before returning back to Bratislava in the evening.
