Morogoro is home to Mikumi National Park and the majestic Udzungwa Mountains, which can be seen on your left when coming from Dar es Salaam. From Morogoro town, this magnificent park lies 33 km. approximately 30-35 minutes drive time. Mikumi National Park, is renowned for its diverse wildlife and scenic landscapes. It covers an area of approximately 3,230 square kilometers and is part of the larger Nyerere (Selous) ecosystem. Visitors to Mikumi can observe a wide array of animals, including large herds of elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and wildebeests. Predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas are also commonly seen. The park is home to some rare animals, such as the African wild dog and the elusive eland. In 2008, the Usangu Game Reserve merged with Ruaha, creating Tanzania’s largest national park, now spanning over 20,000 km².
