When i hand over my passport to check in, the staff asked for my itinerary / booking ticket which i did not prepare. So it takes a while to scroll through my emails and when she sees me taking a long time, she claim she will use my passport to check in. Alot of hotels already use passport to check in, so i am irritated for her so call request in the first place. Hotel is ok for the price but in the gym, 2 treadmill are powered on, and the cycling and epilitical trainer machine are not powered on and i cannot find the cable to power on. The spiral staircase to the gym is hazardous...small space and narrow..check out was fast, the housekeeping lady saw us checking out and directly ask our room number, maybe thats the reason for the fast check out.

The only good thing about this hotel is location. Seperately booked 2 rooms with in law. Rooms are dirty , ours even have a travel size facial wash still in the bath room. Water is not hot , water pressure is miserable. Music and cheering from nearby pub till at least 2am. Checked in , found floor dirty, requested bedroom slipper at front desk on our way out. Counter say will leave in our rooms. Return to room but no slipper. Call and request again. Still didn’t come. Tv not working as well. Complain to counter the next day during check out. Staff claim will ask manager to email us on the matter the same day. A week passed and no email at all.

Property is within walking distance from the CIQ building which is very convenient. Shopping malls and eating places are around the area. Hotel is clean and rooms are small but comfortable.

Relatively new hotel which is directly opposite Komtar. Very friendly and helpful counter staff, has nice cafe within the hotel. Only minus point is if u stay nearer to grou d floor, the road and pub noise level will be audible from the room.

Everything was good except for the pub downstairs. The band started at about midnight and ended about 1.30am on our first night and passed midnight on our 2nd night.

Pleasant stay
Better than expected stay after reading many bad reviews. Probably because I stated my request before checking in. - small but clean room good enough for crashing for 2 nights - shower room clean and working order. - very basic so bring own toiletries they do have shower cap and toothbrush set - used plastic bottled water can ask die more if needed - front desk staff helpful when ask to get cab during peak raining evening. - check in and out was easy and quick Just across the road from Komtar JBCC and 5 minutes to City Square Mall and 10-15 minutes walk to nearby cafes and restaurants.

Reserved a family room for 4. Room is not spacious, it actually like 2 rooms combine to one. Can't have all 4 to sit around for chatting/ sharing food in the room. Have a desk and a dressing table but only 1 stool provided. However overall is fine, staff is friendly, and checking in/ out completed within 15 min.

The room is a little small. However, the standard of cleanliness is present. Also, the staff is friendly and approachable. It is also within walking distance from City Square.

Rooms are ok for this rate. Breakfast was also commensurate for what was paid. The only peeve I had was that on the day of my check-in on 8 July 2023 at around 3.30 pm, the counter stuff asked me to pay an additional $10 ringgit for each of the two rooms I had booked. He added that this was meant as a tourism tax. I mentioned to him that all the relevant taxes were already included when I made the bookings via the Expedia website. In the end, I had to give in otherwise the two rooms would not have been released to me. The counter staff took the “tourism tax” from me and put it in one of the counter drawers without issuing me a receipt. This experience marred my stay at Fives Hotel JB.

Adequate stay
Simple hotel that served a good breakfast (sahur). Not lavish but you have at least 3 choices other than the normal cereals and breads. Rooms are adequately furbished but no fridge so whatever cold drinks you have gotta finish it off. Service is good, polite staff and accomodating. Cleaners don't disturb you when you hang the DND sign. Only issue during my 2nd night was a sudden blackout in the rooms (yes, rooms only, everything else is still ok) and it took them quite some time to restore power. Was eating dinner in the dark, then came down to the desserts shop on ground floor to get shaved ice dessert while waiting for further updates of the blackout. Desserts shop owner is also a friendly chatty lady who took some time to advise on how to mix the condiments to the shaved ice. Will definitely visit them again. Good stay and convenient - just across from Komtar. Easy in easy out.

I like it here because the place is so convenient and very near to ciq, near to shopping malls and no matter what time I go back after my stroll i can simply walk back. And it is very safe over here.

Dirty and gross room.
I was staying in room 703. The cleanliness was horrible upon check in. There were urine stains on the toilet seat cover and it’s not a few drop, it looked like a boy pee and missed it and ended at the cover. So it felt like the toilet bowl was not cleaned and sanitized after the previous guest left. It was a twin bed, so one of the bed had hairs and stained on the bedsheet.

Basic for 1 night stay.
Booked total 6 rooms for a night stay with my friends. Convenient location, directly opposite to city square. Check in was slow, staff mentioned hotel was opened last year, but the upkeeping was poor and room was not really clean Room 822 was dirty, no hot water and shampoo/shower gel Room 819 no hot water old fixtures and stained Room 821 was not cleaned properly.

l can't sleep well because outside of the room was noisy with life ban singing song till mid night. l have requested a quite room when booked a room online but end up is noisy room facing Komtar Shopping mall. l like the shower, very good.
