"I stayed at this property as part of a 2 week break to Scotland and to prepare for the Edinburgh marathon. The staff were friendly and efficient, choice of food in the Restaurant was good and I used the gym and swimming pool which were also very good! The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Portobello beach and either a long walk or bus you are into the centre where all the attractions are. "

"This is the real castle deal! We were thrilled be allocated room 4 in the large turret of the castle. A red four postered bed themed room with all the glory of days gone by. The bathroom was located down a narrow hallway near the door to the room and that made for some fun too! It felt really special! "We very much enjoyed our evening here. Our budget friendly room was on the 3rd floor, but there was a small lift to help with luggage. Our room was lovely, although a bit warm, and the bathroom was large. We had nice reqding chairs and windows that overlooked part of the garden. Staff was lovely!"

"Beautiful old building. Great area. Rooms were quite nice and clean. Just no staff were ever present in our three night stay. An elderly couple who couldn’t speak English sat in the front lobby, often. I’m not sure if they worked there cleaning rooms or were a guest but if the worked there they made no attempt to communicate or help out, which was an issue because the front door to the building on a busy street was always left open"

"Overall the hotel was a convenient location to stay at. Without a car the bus stops to and from the city were almost out front and 2 pound single fares was wonderful.
