"We spent a delightful 4 nights at the Royal Orchid Metropole. It has a good location, just 5 or 10 minutes from the Palace by auto rickshaw. It is a genuine heritage property, and the furniture and fittings are OLD, they are certainly not 'tired' or 'faded'. Don't stay here if you expect hot water at the turn of a tap (it takes 15 mins to heat up). We found ourselves upgraded to a maharajah suite which was huge, with an enormous L-shaped balcony and an extra-large bed made from two large...

"Fantastic location. Great staff. Good food. Well fitted out rooms. Only negative was that there seems to be work going on so lots of drilling and banging. My room was changed after I complained. Make sure you get a room without this issue. "

"Pool needs to be really improved, a lot of updates can be done, for example bath tub had scratches/peeling paint on them. Access to beach from hotel would be a plus."

"The property was unique but very comfortable. Had dinner at the guesthouse both night it was great. We just had toast for breakfast so can’t do much wrong with that. Would recommend to anyone that wants an authentic experience."
