A great find!
OUTSTANDING!!! Could not have had better weather. The hosts were incredible and went out of their way to ensure everything was working. Thew room was excellent and the bed was so comfortable. The Breakfast was fabulous and very filling. As far as I could tell everything was beyond my expectations and i highly recommend that you check this place out, minutes from both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.

It is a very old home, which I love the charm, character and history. But everything is clean and where necessary, updated. They’ve infused so many lovely details into the room, I really enjoyed my stay.

Ted and Carol were so hospitable. Ted met us at the door and walked us around to make us feel right at home. Carol made goodies for us to snack on. The other guests were extremely friendly as well. Absolutely love the place!

Cute BnB in the heart of Chill CT Country
Great cute little place tucked in between Mystic, Mohegan Sun, and Foxwoods. The hosts were great, the room was cozy, the grounds were relaxing and chill. Went with my fiance and dog ($35 dollar pet fee) and we had a blast. Ask about it being a haunted house!!! Our dog protected us! Such a relaxing time, would definitely consider rebooking.

The environment was a step back in time! The staff was beyond fabulous. The food was great and hospitality amazing. I was a little concerned with the media hype on ghosts but we had none. I would highly recommend Captain Grant’s 1754 and truly hope to get back there again and bring my family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart❤️

A trip to the past!
Fabulous house! I felt like I was back in time. Wonderful wood floors and authentic ceilings beams. Owners had sherry in our room and plenty of towels. Such wonderful hosts. We had a ball, we went to a nearby winery and had wine by the fireplace listening to live music and watching the sundown. I felt I was inside a painting. Everyone was wonderful after that we went to Mystic for a great dinner at Captain Daniel Parker 1800’s restaurant. When we finished 10 minutes later we were at Mohegan Sun for playing and drinks! Marvelous night and next morning even better -a breakfast with the owners. Great conversation, lovely couple. So happy to meet them!

We arrived late, but I was surprised there was not a note around to let us know who to call or where to go. No reception area. The place had a nostalgic feeling. We felt a vibe or eerie feeling as soon as we got there. We left & came back & we still felt uncomfortable about sleeping there. A feeling came over us & we decided to leave. We were disappointed about it. Your husband was nice. It had nothing to do with him. We just felt creeped.

We had such a great time at this spooky old B&B. We were fortunate enough to have the whole place to ourselves which added to the spooky haunted feel. My husband and younger son did hear footsteps going up the stair to the game room while they were playing pool, but no one was there. The employees were to kind! We didn't get to meet the owners as they were on their own vacation, but we will definitely be back so hopefully we can meet them at a future visit. We highly recommend this place!!

Breakfast was very good, coffe was hot and plentiful. Not enough fruit offerings. Dining table nicely decorated. Other guests were pleasant and cordial. The Margret room in the Avery House is in need of a major renovation. Ceiling plaster is falling down and full of patches, floor boards creak and squeak and in spots loose. Ceiling is too low, about 7 feet high if lucky. No closet, not enough furnishings to put clothes, as well as broken and dated, not period in nature either. Bathtoom had no door, shower head too low even if you are 5'10" tall. Mold in the grout throughout the bathroom. Sunk drips and leaks. Disgusting rug in the bathroom (needs to be thrown out). Room and bath full of cobwebs and spiders (daddy long legs). Smelled. Room door sticks, is broken and comfortable in ots ability to secure properly. Outside walkways and steps are unlevel, unsecured, uneven stone that is tough and difficult to navigate, especially if you use a cane like i do. There is a kitchen in the Avery house as well that smells like rotten meat, even after we mentioned it to the staff and they "cleaned" it, it still smelled. The doorway saddles come loose and back entrence door sticks. The main house seems to be given more attention. However, there is still too much dust, dirt and cobwebs, as well as, a musty mildewy smell. Until those things are totally fixed, repaired, overhauled and taken care of i cannot in good conscience recommend it. They capitalize on ir being haunted

Archie, We knew when you arrived that you wanted to stay somewhere else; probably a hotel. If you had said something to us, we would have happily found you another place to stay that is more to your liking. First; our breakfasts are all you can eat and that includes fruit. Look at us on Trip Advisor. There is a crack in the Margaret sheetrock but can't currently be fixed due to supply shortages. Sheet rock does not put down plaster. The home is on the National Historic Register and was built in 1790. Yes the ceilings are low. People were short in the 1700's. For the first time in 26 years of business, we had a guest tear an entrance door to a room from its hinge. Everything else that was said was just to get even with us for not being a new sterile hotel.

Given room outside of main house, not vacuumed, tops of bedside table not cleaned, airconditioner old and dirty, SEVERE CAT URINE smell in room when air conditioner was turned off. Mouse in main house kitchen, entrance to other house with our room was back door to an old building and not kept up.

Well, I don't know where to start. This person was angry about something but we don't know what. We haven't had a cat in the home for over 10 years, maybe longer. The back door to the main building was an addition built in 2009. We don't know why he wrote this or if his real name is Michael. Every time someone leaves in the Avery house all of the downstairs rugs are vacuumed. If only he had opened up to us about what was wrong, we would have corrected it. After 26 years in business, we know what to do.

It was a bed-and-breakfast styled after the 1750s. Everything about it was unique. It was romantic, mysterious, and wonderfully friendly.

The house is a very nice piece of history, that has been well preserved. The owners are very nice, and have an interesting story. The staff is very friendly. We enjoyed our stay.
