Nice staff, beautiful location but food for breakfast is not up to the cattiness of the location. Also restaurants price is a bit higher if I compare to other surroundings restaurants and average prices internationally

Thank you for your time in writing a review. It was a great pleasure having you stay with us and breakfast concern will be checked on. We truly look forward to welcome you at Mnarani many more times.Regards from us all.
Our cottage was clean with good hot water and A/C. It was a quiet location on the beach. Food was good. The aquarium where you can swim with sea turtles in a natural lagoon is across the road. I enjoyed the hammocks on the property. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Thank you Nancy for taking time to write us a review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and we look forward to welcome you again in the near Future.
I stayed for 4 nights and my comments as follow:
* The room was very nice (spacious, very nice view "Mahaba 1", nice AC, hot water and coffee tray)
* The staff very friendly
*the beach is nice, but affected by tides, so the water going away sometimes during the day. Also the management need to watch the guest behavior with the shades and sun beds as during our stay we found some people putting their towels to reserve place and going to use other area of the beach or using the pool!!
* The breakfast limited choices with acceptable quality.
* The dinner set menu and tasty "compliments to the chef"
* The area very rough.
The place is fine for the price. Rooms are basic but functional (hot water, air con etc). The location is a little distant from Nungwi nightlife but most guests are probably looking for that. Breakfast is a little disappointing at most Nungwi hotels but this place is slightly above average in the breakfast stakes.

Dynamic ocean front watching the expansive tides come and go under the over hanging deck!
Did not like workers waking me up at 7am with their chatter.... Some requests of the front desk were ignored...😐
The room was absolute disaster! I paid upgrade amd i got the cheapest hole.. no internet or wifi for $137 a night for this hole with no wifi never again! No hot water even, breakfast disaster again...

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your time in writting us a review.
I am sorry that you did not have a good experience during your stay and i will re check on your raised concerns.
Beautiful hotel, private and not surrounded by any other hotels, friendly staff, good food. Lush gardens and great sea views. Plenty to do in Nungwi. Swimming with turtles was amazing! Great experience to watch dhow builders perform their art with wood.
We booked an extra night at the hotel at good rates!

Dear Ernst,
It was great hosting you and thank you for staying with us.
The staff is so friendly. They put nice touches on everything and make sure to constantly check on you. I left at 6am and they packed me breakfast without me asking. They have an on-site your company that provides quite a few of the memorable Zanzibar tours

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking time to write a review.
Was nice having you stay with us and thank you very much.
Interesting bathroom set up in the rooms that weren't individual lodges. No privacy due to open glass. Wasn't really an issue for us but could see it being an issue for other people. Everything else though was good, not a bad place to stay by any means. It was quite nice. If you're someone who likes to stay in the room maybe look elsewhere. We aren't like that so it wasn't a problem.

Dear valuable guest,
Thank you for positive comments. we will share as well the special notes to Andrew.
We are looking forward to see you in the near future.
Very relaxing ambience - our room 'Pemba' had just been refurbished - new mosquito net, curtains etc and was very comfortable.
Small nice pool area - great feeling of being next to the ocean. Relaxing bar area for sitting in the evening - but a happy hour would be good.
Some more information about the catering needs to be provided - not enough information in the room.
The reception was a bit casual - the account was miscalculated on checkout and the staff tried to say that it was not.

Was a quieter resort...That was my husband’s & my only drawback...we found a lack of things to do during our stay...
If you are looking for a clean quiet getaway then this is the perfect place!

Outdated hotel. Beds uncomfortable. No beach to swim in front of hotel. Service was nice.
Superb experience. Hotel staff was always cooperative. Rooms are super clean and location is very convinient and close to aquarium. Would definitely go back
Great beach front views. Good budget hotel. Food was a little awful and was a bit far from the main town so it was hard to get other options especially in the evening. Staff a lovely.

Located in a lovely area of the island.
It’s a hard one to review. Zanzibar is an amazing island so it’s hard to be grumpy. Plus there were so many positives some of the staff were absolutely delightful namely Keto at the bar and the tour guide chap was great to chat to, he was such an informed person we asked him so many questions poor guy :).
The location of the hotel is great, it is close to some of the most beautiful beaches that I have ever seen in the world but the beach in front of the hotel isn’t the best.
The rooms were certainly not up to standard. Location wise they were great on the beautiful lush gardens or the beach side views but internally a big NO. The receptionist kindly gave us an upgrade on check in but if what we were given truly was an upgrade then I’m scared to know what we were supposed to have. The room was tiny we couldn’t open both suitcases at the same time. The mattress smelt of mould and the raw wooden furniture in the room also had a damp smell as if it has absorbed years of humidity. I would imagine that they are due for a revamp of the rooms but I’m not sure that it’s on the cards. I will say when we complained about the room the receptionist rectified the situation and moved us immediately. There are so many hotels in this area of a similar price I would imagine that you could find a better one for the money.

Dear Emmanuella,
Thank you so much for your comments. We are happy to read that both Keto and Bekka were very helpful. Our motto is 'Come as a guest, leave as a friend'.
On returning from a dissapointing stay at noisy, busy Kendwa, it was an absolute pleasure to stay in this peaceful oasis.
Great view of the ocean, no hawkers trying to sell excursions, food generally good and reasonable cost at around $10 for a lunch time main course.
The hotel is also near to Zalu jetty restaurant, voted #1 on trip advisor. Sunset cocktails there are the best!
We were sorry to leave....

Just an average experience. A beautiful location and great facilities, but had to have my room sprayed twice for bugs. Food was just ok. Tried for 5 star presentation but the flavours didn't match. Staff tried hard but language was an issue. Pre-booked an airport pick up which didn't show up. Overall a disappointment.

Okay I guess but next time I'll be staying..
...Elsewhere...
Booked an ocean view room based on reviews. Room was small and smelled like mildew. The manager said it's probably in the walls. I asked to check out another room but it had the same problem. I was only staying for 4 nights so I had to deal with it. A/C was more like a fan. Not cold at all.
Food is only served at certain times of the day which is ridiculous for a resort. I was late to lunch by 3 minutes and was denied lunch. I was willing to pay for it - but the kitchen staff didn't want to assist me. I spent my money at another resort. Really ridiculous. I'm on vacation - why in the world would I need to order food during certain times.
Staff was hit or miss. Some were very nice but manager seemed to care less.
Tide swings massively here and don't expect a long white sand beach. Most days there was no beach and the certain amount of sand here is covered by high-tide twice a day. According to hotel tides are less noticeable during rainy season. As such - you'll spend your time poolside or laying on a chair on the hotel deck and not on the beach out front..
Breakfast wasn't bad. Lunch (if you're on time) was dismal. Dinner was good most nights.
Massage therapist on duty was great. Go at high tide so waves break close to spa. Will put you to sleep.
I spent most of my time down the road and volunteered at a local school teaching English to the kids during the days.
Nungwi is exploding - lots of options. Keep looking.

Take the relaxation skip the dinner
The cottages are a bit removed from Nungwi beach itself and from the nightlife and restaurants. you can walk to Nungwi, but at night its a bit more tricky especially is the tide is high. As a result the hotel has you a bit captive especially for dinner. We booked with our dinners included and felt a little cheated by this in the end. The dinner menu was uninspired and unnecessarily 'international' the worst that I had was a 'beef wellington' that was boarding school-esque the best - a fish dish with more of a local flavour was average. On nights when the tide was low we skipped dinner at the hotel and found one or another little restaurant down the beach which offered good value for money tasty dishes - (I recommend the prawn curry at Braka)
certainly there was no need to stick around for lunch which was expensive and not as good as what you can find down the beach.
We did enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and privacy that this hotel offered, other hotels have loads of people walking in front of them day and night so I guess that is the trade off.
Very nice scenery and nice design of the landscape. But I was met by s cockroach when I stepped in the room. The power went out every day for 1-2 hours and it was not always the hotel wanted to turn on the generator. I got food poisoning at dinner. The hammock infornt of the cottage was nice.
