The property is 3 stories high and huge. Each floor has toilet & bathroom. Very convenient for the renters. Everywhere is tidy and clean. Close to BSI, downtown. The owner is very responsive. Loved the place I stayed. Would recommend to anyone.

No longer breakfast...only self-serve. But lovely, simple place to stay....but.....bring earplugs. Both nights a neighbor drummed from 6pm until 11pm.

I've stayed at Baldursbrá in the past, having visited Iceland 17 times now. It's a great solution if you just need a place to stay, perhaps in transit to the airport or as a base for exploring. It's a self-check-in guesthouse, so that's convenient, but of course, it lacks character and charm as a result. Great for sleeping, and perhaps you might try the hot tub in the garden too.

Older reviews talk about a host family, which appears to have changed now. During my stay it was an unstaffed property. That's common in Reykjavik, but it created a few problems. Upon arrival you walk in the unlocked door and check for your name on a whiteboard. My name wasn't there, so I phoned the property number. They were efficient and offered me a better room by way of apology. I then had a phone call from the property at midnight, which woke me up. I missed it so phoned back, apparently it was a mistake. Next day I got an email, which was checkin instructions for another resident. I just ignored it. The next day I had another call, double checking which room I was in. So all in all, organisation was pretty poor, although the people I spoke to were pleasant. Otherwise this is excellently located, central and in a nice area, with free parking (rare). My room was in the Garden House, which is a two floor structure on the building's side. Unlike the main building it is wooden framed with corrugated metal, which means it creeks terribly when people walk around. That meant I didn't get great sleep. The room however was nicely furnished and very clean. Overall, the property was good value, but there is a need for things to become a bit better organised.

Not clean and not well managed.
A very uncomfortable experience. Firstly a triple room was booked and paid for but I was allocated a double room. Things looked clean at first but under beds it was very dusty and there was other guests trash. The room in the Garden House shared a bathroom with four other rooms. The bathroom was a disaster, the shower flooded before I could use it and the large and heavy sink was dangerously unstable on its legs. The bathroom was unusable and the guesthouse management unreachable. I had to use a bathroom in the main house that was unclean. With such high number of people sharing bathrooms, a single daily cleaning is simply not enough. I requested a partial refund to compensate for this experience and Hotels.com reached out to the guesthouse management on my behalf - management refused to provide any compensation. Very disappointing since this place is so well reviewed - a gesture of acknowledgment of this negative experience would have changed everything - I understand things can go wrong but the way things were handled was not great.

We loved our stay here. We got a cabin in the back and it was more than we expected (a well stocked kitchenette - we expected some shared spaces) and beautiful. This place also included breakfast and was our most affordable stay in our entire trip (others charged more and did not include breakfast). We also got to see the northern lights while here and the surroundings are beautiful. We took a short 7 minute drive to the bridge to watch the lights dancing by the water and mountains. Both concierge members were friendly and willing to help! Highly recommend!

Great affordable gem at a brilliant location
Great affordable gem at a brilliant location. It has self-check-in and I didn´t receive any instructions before arriving so it took me a few minutes to find the board with the instructions on the wall. Once I found that it was easy. It is a very homely guesthouse with everything you need. I´ll definitely use this guesthouse again.

The removal of the included breakfast from last year was a big step back for the property - it offered a certain charm that is now lacking and it's just a guesthouse now with a passable price point, having lost some of its value.

There is a nice garden with hot tub but it was raining so it was not on. Not too convenient to carry big luggage through the house and go upstairs to the garden rooms. The sitting and dining room are nice and kitchen is well equipped.

It's a very cute and very homey place, we felt welcome here. We had a three person room on the the top floor under the roof, very cute. The room has a sink and three separate beds, two of the mattresses were very comfy. We all slept really good. There is one shared bathroom per floor, but on our floor was just one other room. Free breakfast in the morning was also good. There is plenty of free street parking nearby and you can easily walk everywhere in Reykjavik. I would come again.

"Warm Reykjavik reception" at 5 degrees!
We had a warm welcome by a young friendly lady LUCA (even that we came to the guesthouse early morning) She let us store our luggage and even our personal bags in the kitchen when check in was only at 2 pm. We could enjoy our day without worrying about our luggage and when coming back later, Luca even had brought our "heavy" suitcases and personal bags up into our room! Wow what a service! Early morning there was tea available, crackers and marmalade! Thank you!

Friendly neighbourhood guesthouse
Always a great local option. Well run and quaint guesthouse run by a kind couple. I love the location in a quiet residential neighbourhood as much as I do the laid back atmosphere. This is a more authentic option to hipster hotels.

Like staying with your favorite aunt!
We stayed in a number of guesthouses in Iceland and most were new and of a modern design. This guesthouse is like staying with your favorite aunt - older, a bit cluttered, but very homey and comfortable. Our room (#2) was upstairs on the corner and it was quite large with a sink, a queen bed and a twin bed. The bathroom was large with a good shower. Breakfast was terrific! Lots to choose from and really good coffee. The owner is very helpful and she has two sweet dogs. There are two spaces specifically for parking and the rest is free street parking. At times that might be a little challenging, so keep that in mind. We didn't move our car since it was easy walking distance to city center. Overall, we were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Didn’t actually stay here. They bumped me to a different house about 10 minutes away with 1 day notice. I chose this place partly on the location and the new place was not as convenient. The new place had a broken toilet our entire stay which was pretty awful when you’re already sharing, now a staircase is involved. The room didn’t have sufficient place for clothing storage for 2 people. The blackout curtain was too short so when in bed you see the midnight sun all night long. It faced a traffic circle and was rather noisy. The breakfast was fine, the place was clean, the WiFi worked, the woman in charge was friendly even though she didn’t get the toilet fixed over the 3 days we were there.

The hosts here are engaged and interested in making sure your stay is comfortable! Our room was comfortable and quiet and the breakfast was great - a nice variety of local flavor! The shared bathroom was spacious and clean. The doggos in reception are so sweet and friendly! There was a safe place to leave our luggage until our room was ready. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

This is the perfect mix between hostel and hotel. You get your own private room, but a shared bathroom with the three other rooms on your floor. You can spend time meeting the staff and other guests in more friendly terms, or you can just come and go. Felt much more like someone opened up their home to me and other travelers to do as we will. I enjoyed my time there.

Evelyne (the owner) was so kind and helpful - especially with getting the required Covid test done. She also provided an excellent breakfast every morning and remembered my itinerary so she knew where I would be each day. She assisted with getting a taxi as well since the bus station was closed and NO buses were available to take people back to the airport (which is a 45 minute drive)..
