Honest review! Could have been three or four stars but owner tried to screw us around. Travelling with my wife, three-year-old and Mom. Booked a three bed room, and even called a month earlier to clarify for sure the booking was for a room with three beds and he said yes. After paying for the room, where he seemed to not know how to use his credit card machine (telling me that he uses the tap function for $1000 transactions)…… and I had to help him by showing him how to insert the card??? Should’ve been the first hint….. He took us up to the room, opened the door, put some of our luggage in there and showed me the room with two beds….. I said to him, we are supposed to have three beds, and he responded, and I quote “you can accommodate can’t you”…… and he went on to say it’s not that big of a deal. I couldn’t even believe it….. after he charged us for our triple room price, which was substantially more than the double room. I said to him, you charged us for a three bed room, that is what we paid for, we will NOT accommodate for you. After he saw that we would not accommodate his request he showed us the room next to it, which was ready to go and had three beds and was much bigger! He completely tried to give us the wrong room and resell the more expensive triple room, not cool! It was obvious to us that he had done this to others before and gotten away with it. Beware of this guy.

The staff is very friendly, even though I could not understand much in spanish, we were able to use Google translate to communicate. The accommodations are really nice for a great price, and all the rooms have a nice view and are walkable to the main street with food and shops.

While we had a great stay at the Royal Galapagos, I would not book on Expedia again with them. Upon arrival they did not have our reservation written in their paper booking system and we had to have the front desk worker call the owner to discuss the problem. Luckily he spoke decent English and we could get to the bottom of it. They had an extra room or we may have been in a really tough situation. Overall, the property is very safe, breakfast was delicious, and it is convenient to everything you will need.

The property was near to restaurants and up one end of town. Unfortunately the door to the balcony did not lock, the TV did not work and the wifi kept cutting out. The manager was very helpful and the breakfast was great. Room was clean and comfortable.

Hotel from hell.
Unfortunately it is a building site. I was ill in bed for 3 days. First two day contract angle grinder and gammer noise was on all day. On my complaint second day it was less. On top of the owner left the place unsupervised with the house keeper. She could not speak a word of english. All night corridor extremely bright light was left on. No one on site to address the issue as the house keeper left premises 7 pm. There was no one there till next day 6 am.

Take your business elsewhere
The manager made me move rooms to make room for incoming guests, even though I had booked for more nights. When i tried to decline he told me my other option was to leave and find another property. Very unprofessional. Also, after 3 nights i left a towel on the floor expecting it to be changed and instead they just hung the same towel up. There are lots of choices in San Cristobel. Anything is better than here.

Good location. Shame about the management.
My issue with this place was with the owner/manager. When i checked in he said "You must pay me immediately", which i think he thought was funny, but it came across as agressive and arrogant. I had booked the suite and based on the photos, the room had a hammock in front of the room. He took me to the top floor and there was no hammock and when i asked he said i didn't get one because i was on the top floor. I asked to move to a lower floor to have the hammock which he agreed to, and i did not ask for the difference in fare even though my rate was higher than what I traded for. I decided to stay on San Cristobel longer, so i extended my stay and he made me move rooms because someone had booked the room he had me in and he had to give them my room because they booked it based on the picture. When I said that I had booked a room based on the picture as well but didn't get what i booked and then in actuality paid more for less, he just shrugged like it was not his fault. No customer service skills whatsoever. I stayed for a week and he treated me horribly. I would never return nor recommend this property.

Clean, well-maintained and quiet. Eduardo was accommodating when needed, and friendly. The room has a good sized balcony with a hammock, although I spent little free time in the room as there is much to see and do on the island. I would stay here again. Thank you, Eduardo!

I love the spacious room and bathroom and the balcony with the hammock !! Lots of ventilation!! Eduardo is very sweet and made us breakfast every morning! The view is also very beautiful !

The view, the hammocks, & Eduardo
The views and Eduardo make the Royal Galapagos Inn wonderful! The location is prime—on the edge of town with a 2-minute walk to the center. Breakfast was great. If you're lucky, maybe Eduardo will make you some of his delicious yucca bread. Laying & swinging on the deck hammock was some of my relaxed moments in the Galapagos! Make sure to check out the views from the rooftop deck. I hope to be back!

Great last leg of Galapagos adventure
My stay was amazing. The owner, Eduardo, is a very welcoming, positive and knowledgeable person. The hotel was perfect for my needs. Clean, simple and with a hammock on the balcony. My room had a couple of bulbs that didn't work and although I said it wasn’t a problem they were replaced the following day while the room was cleaned. Breakfasts were always a highlight! The location suited me too, away but not far from the center and closer to Darwin Bay than most.

For the price this is a good place with an ocean view. The ac didn't get cold enough and the hot water was tepid. Good location.

The property had amazing views and friendly staff. It was nice to have WiFi and breakfast included. The hammocks were relaxing and the terrace was great. Each floor had a terrace with a stunning ocean view. Great location.

Never actually stayed here .. flight was delayed landed at 7pm instead of 1pm.. couldn’t get a taxi at airport so had to walk to hotel.. it’s was furthest hotel on the island and a little away from things.. after 6 hour delay and walk from airport .. I waited in a empty lobby for over a hour to be checked in .. I left still waiting for refund..

We waited over an hour for check in. The air conditioner sounded like an airplane starting up so impossible to sleep with. There was drinking water in the lobby which was never open during the day. We were a block away from the beach but was more expensive to than many right on the beach. We had to pay up front but he was very hesitant about showing us the room first. The tv didn’t work. The worst hotel we have stayed in in our world travels!

Our family stayed for a week and was very happy. The owner was very helpful. He speaks a few languages, including English and French fluently. The location is the best in town, very close to downtown but not in downtown so it is not too noisy. It is also in walking distance to a nice beach, snorkeling place and a museum. Highly recommended.

Demolition zone ...AVOID!
This hotel has a great location right by the ocean and Edwardo was lovely but unfortunately that's as good as this place gets... This hotel is under major renovations and when we were here in July 2018 half the place was a construction zone. The balconies are raw concrete with wiring and steel reinforcement everywhere. I should mention that there were no walls on our 2nd story balcony...just the floor so you CAN NOT bring children here. The kitchen/dining area is the renovation hub with tools and supplies everywhere. The hammering and drilling starts at 730am, so no chance for a sleep in. OK now to the room: as I walked in one of the floor tiles went flying! The sheets were threadbare, stained with mildew and smelt musty. I could see the floral mattress through the thin sheets and I swear they had not been washed in a while (either the room had been unoccupied in months or they had not put fresh sheets on). There were even a few hairs on them LOL! I had to shake out the pillows which had a band of dirt (I think concrete dust from the renovations). We also had to clean our lovely plastic balcony furniture that was covered in concrete dust. This place was the absolute pits and I don't know how this can even be advertised on Hotels.com. It is just not right to sell accommodation that is under reconstruction and I will be making a formal complaint.

Mediorce room but got charged extra
The hostel is bare and it is going through renovation at the moment. We waited 30 mins at check in because the owner wasn't there when we arrived. He also charged us an addition of 12% tax even though the room rate has included this tax. The internet is not working probably but it is a problem everywhere on this island. However, all the necessity is met: clean sheet, clean towel, hot water, air conditioner, huge portion of breakfast.

Good breakfast. Nice atmosphere. Spacious double room. Lots of hooks and shelves to make it feel spacious even after you're there. Great roof deck to sit out on after sun goes down.

Wonderful stay at Royal Bambu! Rooms are tidy, comfortable beds, WiFi is fast, warm shower, A/C works great, spacious room for 2. Breakfast was tasty, fast, and fresh in the mornings - the owner grows some of the fruit on his farm! 5 minute walk to Playa Mann, 5-10 minute walk to restaurants and the pier.

Value in Royal Bambu!
A few comments. Location: Often the hotels.com data related to location is not accurate....and oddly....it is not accurate in this way....your location distance is far off stating that a location is MUCH farther away from my desired location than the actual location. The location inaccuracies are true in Quito and Cuenca. So I have begun to confirm location myself. To clarify, I find that you state a hotel is farther than desired sites that the hotel actually is...for example you state a hotel is 1.5 miles from X, when it is 3 blocks from X.. Next point Credit Cards: Many recent bookings I have made have stated that hotel takes VISA & MasterCard...However, NONE did take credit cards! Such facts are important regarding cash planning particularly on remote islands. Many of these establishments blame the government for lack of internet.. However, my research finds that it is the owners` business decisions. In the same neighborhood of a relatively large hotel that does NOT take credit cards, small shops and restaurants will take some or even ALL known credit cards including Diners Club...and quickly charge purchases with no heartache. Cash is bad for business, government, and consumers! Royal Bambu has a great location. The owner is interesting. However, the property is for sale. Owner wants to retire and spend his money! Thus owner is maintaining but not investing in the property. Sale includes lot next door...great potential..

Pleasant and quiet with a great location, away from the main town bustle via a nice walk along the waterfront. Great views from rooftop terrace. Great breakfast. Super nice owner/manager. A/C and ceiling fan. Nice to have a choice.

길가라 좀 시끄럽지만 괜찮은 Hostal이네요
가격대비 만족하구요. 주인아줌마가 무엇보다 친절해요. 투어 때문에 일찍나간다니까 일찍일어나서 아침도 나름 미리 챙겨주고 청소도 잘해주고.. 저는 좋았습니다. 다만 밤에 차가 너무 심하게 시끄럽게 다닙니다

Nice hotel in San Cristobal
We really enjoyed our stay at Royal Bamboo. Eduardo, the owner, was very welcoming and very helpful. Everything he recommended was fantastic, I only wish we had more time on San Cristobal.

Stay at casa de Nelly instead!
Nobody to let us in when we got there for a very long time. Even though we had a reservation. Had to get help from the wonderful lady who ran the Casa de Nelly hotel across the street. Stay there instead. It is pretty much the same price and WAY better! ??? Why were we the only people in this hotel for 2 days??????

Nice clean and big room with good AC. Wifi worked fine and breakfast was good. Good location within walking distance from beach and pier.

This hotel must be close to closing
I gave him two $20 bills for a $38 invoice for a night stay Inc a rather mean breakfast but he had no change. Eventually a staff member gave me $2 from his pocket. The room was advertised as queen bed but it wasn't. Noisy air-conditioning.I moved to another much better hotel.
