Staff are friendly and kind. Lobby is nice. Breakfast is served in a quiet room. Decent enough food and coffee. Great location close to Metro. Lots of nice restaurants nearby. Room was ok. Not a great hotel for a stay of more than 2 days. We were there for 6 nights. Beds are very hard. Pillows are lumpy. Bathrooms have no fans so get very humid and smelly. Bring toilet paper. What they have in the bathrooms is very rough and no bidet. Room was so very hot at night but the only option was to open the window all the way. You can't just open a touch to let air in. Very quiet at night. Decor was just meh. Not like photos which look much nicer. Rooms feel old but are very clean. The staff do a wonderful job of making up the room each day. If your claustrophobic make sure to get a room a lower floor so you can take the stairs. We were on 5 and the elevator is VERY tiny. Overall ok spot but won't stay here again more than 2 nights.

Boutique Hotel near Canal St Martin
Hotel St Martin Bastille exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautiful, with an unusual lobby, lots of books, comfortable seating. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and decorated in a lovely, minimalist style. The neighborhood is convenient, cafes and restaurants and metro are nearby, and the hotel is easily walkable to the Marais and some other tourist sights. The biweekly market across from the hotel was outstanding -- but having rooms looking out onto the market means that you might find your sleep disturbed in the wee hours of the morning as they set the market up. We will be recommending this hotel to our friends and family.

Wonderful!
Wonderful hotel, friendly staff, very clean. Plenty of great bars and restaurants nearby. Close to two metro stations. We like to walk and that took about half an hour from the hotel to reach the centre. Will definitely be back!

Outstanding service and welcome from staff! Loved everything about it. Breakfast was wonderful. Location is perfect: plenty of dining and transportation options nearby. Our room was small, like many in Paris, but even for two of us (a mom and a 20yo son), it worked out perfectly. If you have enormous luggage, choose a larger room, but the smallest selection worked just fine for us. We each had a rollaboard-size suitcase (expanded out) and a backpack. I will stay again without the slightest hesitation. Sami and Muhammad at the from desk made sure we had everything we needed. So pleased!

Standard double lacks space or an outside view.
The room was tiny with virtually no storage (except for a closet) in either the bedroom or bathroom. The only window faced an enclosed shaft which faced a wall and let in little light. It bore little relationship to the picture shown of the room. But the bed, though a small double, was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well during a heat wave. If you don't mind living out of your suitcase in a very small space it's bearable. It is in a good location for the price but the hotel does look as if it has seen better days.

Idiosyncratic hotel with good breakfast.
Good location near metro (Oberkampf - close, and Republique). Small room adequate and bed comfortable. Offered upgrade at 15 euro a night and declined. Tiny two person lift. Great breakfast in attractive basement. Popincourt market in front of hotel on Friday and turn right out of hotel and walk to the canal. Good restaurants closeby. Enjoyed our three nights.

Could be better, it's a shame.
The booking in was excellent. When we got to our room we left bags had a quick wash and went straight out to eat as we had been travelling and were hungry, lots of restaurants in the location. Got back to room and were just getting ready to go to bed, rolled down the duvet and found lots of hairs on the sheet underneath. Other areas around room wasn't that clean either, hence my bedside table. Wasn't happy about this so went to reception and the gentleman swapped our room and upgraded without any question, which I found was very professional, thank you, It is a shame this hotel fell low on my score for the bedroom as the breakfast was really lovely and lots of choice.

that picture to the left does not properly represent the property. It should picture a walk in closet with a bed in it . this room was without a doubt the smallest room I have ever been in. While I was lodged there someone stole one of my prescription drugs I talked to the staff and they just stared at me as if I was from Mars. Yeah I know my fault for thinking I could trust the cleaning staff not to steal my stuff !

Wonderful location within walking distance (about 20 minutes) to the Van Gogh light exhibition that we especially made our visit to Paris to see and National Cemetery. Desk attendants at hotel were extremely helpful. And everyone very friendly. Perfect place.

Great little hotel and handy for gigs at Bataclan
We were going to a gig at the Bataclan so just stayed for one night. The location was spot on. Only 2 minutes from the venue and generally the area around the canal has a really good feel to it. Plenty of bars and places to grab a bite to eat, without being too touristy. It’s also walkable from Gare du Nord and Est. Around 25-30 mins, with most of the route along the canal. Check in was a doddle and the concierge was reallly friendly and helpful. He made sure that our group had rooms next to each other. We didn’t try the breakfast (there is a bakery around the corner) so can’t comment on food at the hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the tiled floor is a nice touch. We had ground floor rooms right on the street at the back but didn’t have any issues with noise. The blackout curtains were also very effective. We all agreed that we would stay at this hotel again if we were to stay in this area of Paris again.

Terrible location and very noisy. The safe is only as big as your hand. E cigarette smoking is allowed on the premises. Very small elevator and tight hallways. Everything about it is old and worn out. Paint chipping off the walls in bedroom, old bathroom, and just very unhelpful staff. Save yourself the unease and stay somewhere else. This is not a Best Western. It is the Worst Western. Shame for selling your name to this place.

The hotel is not situated in a convenient location. The neighborhood can get noisy and you can hear everything in your room. The staff and the room are ok. There's a tendency for the staff to insist on you speaking French. Breakfast is provided, but the variety and quality is just so-so.

the hotel locatin is superb and the first room we had was lovely however the air conditioning wasnt working and as on ground floor it was too noisy to have window open. The following day reception changed us to a room on the 5th floor, ths was smaller and not the same room as was originally paid for also there were n curtains, we moved again to the 4th floor which was lovely. It says in the write up there is complementary tea/coffe and water. this is only for the first day, when we asked for some more we were told no. it also say there is a safe however the reception didt know where the key was. Our children paid for this as a birthday present and we felt that the staff and lack of help let it down

Upon arriving, we were not given the room we booked at hotels.com. We saw the room is smaller and has no view, unlike the one we booked. Went to downstairs to report it. They sent us to another room. Next day morning we were told that we need to pay 15 euros per day because we are staying in comfort room, but paid for standard room. I looked at my booking confirmation and hotels.com pics. Found that I did book standard room, but the pic was a comfort room. At this point, I just wanted to close the matter. Paid 15 euros per day, and stayed at the comfort room. Not sure whose responsibility it is to upload the correct pics of the rooms, but to me it was hell of a hassle. Nobody wants to deal with this when they're on vacation. After returning home, I called hotels.com. They offered me a voucher. Other that this, hotel is located in a nice area. They have breakfast. Bed was not good. We had to put two blankets under us. Nothing much to say. Simple, clean hotel with nice and friendly staff. Grocery and pharmacy nearby. Few restaurants, cafe too. Location is very convenient. Two stations very nearby as well.

The first room they wanted us to stay in was absolutely horrible. We had to pay an additional 15euro to change our room. They said that Expedia puts a different room for basic room. It was horrible smelly and dirty. Once they changed us to a different room it was ok. I will never book hotels from Expedia again.

Receptionist was very welcoming. Bedroom , weird ! Very disappointing breakfast. Paperwork all said breakfast finished at 10.30. On arrival we were informed it closed at 10.00. Went down just after 9.30. Hardly anything left and when we asked for anything to be topped up or, eggs, teabags, bread, cheese, we were told finished. We were not the only couple at breakfast, there were 4 other dissatisfied customers

The staff are exceedingly friendly and the rooms are small (but average for Paris) but clean. We had two issues during our stay. Carpet was being replaced and an extremely strong smell of glue pervaded our room for much of our stay - hopefully this is now finished and wont impact future guests. Secondly the shower was over the bath at a very low height and the bath itself was very slippery - a death trap. We ended up putting a towel in the bath to stop us slipping.

Great Location and Excellent Staff
We had a 2 night stay in Paris and had a load things to booked! The hotel location was perfect and a great price too for the area. Transfers from the CDG airport to the hotel was super easy with the RER B and then a Metro Line 5 link to Oberkampf, Hotel was under a 5 minute walk from the metro, ideal to get around Paris. The hotel was fantastic, bathroom was small but it has everything you need! Bed was really comfortable and no noise from the outside! A special mention has to go towards the staff! We forgot an adaptor, they had one, we needed a taxi, they ordered one which arrived in 2 minutes, we needed our boarding passes printed, done for us straight away and offered to keep our luggage as we had a late flight. They done everything for us without hesitation and always willing to help! Will definitely return!!

HOTEL HELL
I stayed here for a week during a business trip to Paris and I'd like to report this place as an absolute SCAM! The photos of the hotel on Expedia are not accurate! The 1st room I was assigned was absolutely filthy with dirty linens. I should also mention there wasn't any natural light, only a small window that faced a brick wall. After complaining about my 1st dirty room and inaccurate photos, I was given the option to upgrade to a room with clean linens for 15 euros extra per night. With no other option, I agreed. The upgraded room was still very dirty with a broken shower but not as filthy as the 1st room. This place is also a scam because they force you to leave your room key at the desk during the day so you won't have access to your room. They're quite rude about this considering it's a security hazard. They also don't ask for ID when you return to the hotel, literally, anyone could walk in the door and request your room keys! Lastly and most importantly, the staff is violent and unfriendly. When I complained about my broken shower at the desk, I asked to speak to the hotel manager which upset the man at the desk who was reprimanded for the broken shower by the hotel manager. Shortly after, the man from the desk violently pounded down my door and demanded that my partner let him in while yelling homophobic slurs. I did not feel safe here at all! Working on file a formal complaint as I have this on video.

Good for a one night stay.
This was just a one night stay but was good for that. Was near the metro and easy to find. The only thing that was a problem was the shower didn't close properly and made the floor wet in the bathroom.
