Oregon Museum of Science and Industry featuring skyline and signage

Unique interactive exhibits will have all members of the family playing scientist or engineer while learning about how our world works.

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is a scientific, educational, and cultural resource centre dedicated to improving the public's understanding of science and technology. The museum is open daily with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Set aside a few hours so you have adequate time to discover all that the OMSI has to offer.

The five exhibition halls feature interactive exhibits in the areas of renewable energy, global climate, chemistry, engineering, health and wellness, technology, and much more. Kids of all ages—and curious adults as well—will enjoy a movie in the Omnimax theatre or a guided tour of the USS Blueback, a retired Navy submarine. There is even a waterfront café for when the tummies start rumbling.

Visitors can see 3D graphics on the five-story-high screen in the Omnimax theatre, or for another special kind of show, they can head to the Planetarium. A stunning light and laser show depicts the heavens in a number of daily shows, so visitors can star gaze from the comfort of their cushy seats. The Omnimax Theatre, the Planetarium, and the submarine all incur additional fees.

All of the fantastic shows are just the beginning of what families can do at the OMSI. The exhibits are truly original see what you will look like in 25 years in the Life Sciences hall, where you can watch yourself age before your eyes. How cool is that? In the Turbine Hall, feel free to build a bridge or boat in the Engineer It section. Take part in a science experiment in the Chemical Lab, where you can mix real chemicals and watch the results unfold.

Real scientists are on-site on selected days, and you can visit with them in the Discovery Lab. Ask your questions about human development, and maybe your own family dynamics and get answers from the experts in the field.

After a long day of exploring many of the realms of science, parents can sit back and relax while their young children expend their remaining energy on the Science Playground. Children under the age of six can run free in this vibrant, safe, and interactive learning environment.
