Picturesque mangroves surround the long and narrow stretch of sand of Manguinhos Beach. The strand regularly receives strong winds that provide excellent sailing and surfing conditions. Meander through the tropical vegetation comprised of restinga and eucalyptus trees at the back of the beach.

Stroll along the charming jetty that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean and enjoy the views of the stunning shoreline here. Stay for the sunset, when the sky lights up with oranges and reds. Appreciate the utter tranquility in this quiet and remote zone, away from some of the busier beaches near the center of Búzios.

Sunbathe on the soft sand and cool down with the breeze in your face. The beach is known for its fierce wind, which is ideal for watersports. Watch the sailboats participating in many stages of a sailing championship that take place here. Bring a board out on the water for surfing or stand-up paddling.

Go for a swim in the crystalline water and bring snorkeling gear to see the dazzling fish. Gaze out at the range of colorful boats anchored just off the shore and spot the many islets decorating the bay. Stroll along some of the trails that run through the mangrove and Atlantic forest surrounding the sandy strand.

In the evening, a traditional fish market takes place near the beach. Browse the stalls and barter for seafood. Stay at one of the posadas, inns and hostels behind the beach. Enjoy snacks and drinks from bars or restaurant in the area.

Manguinhos Beach is at the beginning of the promontory containing Búzios that sticks out from Brazil’s Atlantic Coast. Drive west from the town center of Búzios for 2 miles (3 kilometers) to arrive here in roughly 10 minutes. Other attractions to visit in the region include Geriba Lagoon, Geriba Beach and Velas Beach.
