A decent hotel in central Madrid. Great value, clean and a warm welcome from the staff. There's a couple of Metro stations nearby and Aquí Santoña - Tienda y Tapas over the road is a great place for tapas.

The stay suited us as we are a family of 3. Easy to book and the option of the 1 room with 3 seperate beds was great. Didnt have the breakfast but they dining looked good. The reception were very helpful and we could store our bags u til our late evening flight. Great value and a super central location.

Great location
The hotel is in a great walkable location! The staff was friendly and provided recommendations when we asked. The only downside is that the rooms get very hot (80°+), even if they turn off the heat to your room. We had to leave windows open as long as we could before going to sleep to get to a comfortable temp. Then we would wake up steamy. It's all manageable but something to note.

We had a nice stay except the very noisy street. Even with the window closed, we still heard people, trucks, sirens at all hours of the night. The 10 Euro breakfast was not included. It was average. No eggs were offered. The front desk and cleaning staff were very attentive.

The hotel is beautiful, friendly staff, easy check in, nice rooms and very clean. A 4-5 minutes walk from the Santo Domingo Metro station. If you want to enjoy La Gran Via this is definitely a great place to stay!

Great for a city centre break
Hotel is very well located, we needed twin rooms which they have plenty of. All rooms very clean and also the communal spaces. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Great location, 2 minutes walk from gran via, metro 5 minutes. Royal Palace 10 minutes, museums a short metro ride. Toledo bus pick up 5 minutes. Safe, clean and comfortable hotel.

The location is perfect, just off Gran Via. The exterior of the hotel is beautiful, the lobby and public areas also. The rooms of the hotel are dated, and look like something from the cold-war. At this price point ($150 (average)), one would expect a little more. The rooms were dark, dingy, fridge didn't work, sparse, and a tiny sad TV hanging on the wall. Although the rooms were very clean. Also, the room that I stayed in backed up to a restaurant (?)/store, because at 3am each night they decided to start moving furniture/items. When mentioned to the front desk, they apologized and said they didn't know what it was. Also, my room was next to the fire-exit, which I am assuming staff would pop out to have a smoke, as this door would bang closed through out the evening/night also. No effort to rectify the issue.

My stay was satisfactory The hotel is close to the gran via and a 10 mins walk To puerta del sol and plaza mayor The check in was great as by 12 o’clock Our room was ready . Very welcoming the girl at the reception Comfortable room. I will stay again .

Great Hotel
Great hotel in a very good location. Reception staff were extremely helpful. Good sized room for 3 adults and 1 child. Room was very clean and towels replaced daily. No breakfast available at the hotel, but there are a few bars just down the road which serve coffee and pastries for around 3 euros per person. Only negative was that the mattresses were not very comfortable. But overall a great hotel.

Good hotel in a good area closed to shopping
The room and the bathroom were nice and clean. The bed was confortable but the pillow was very unconfortable and hard. The cleaning lady was all morning and sometimes in the afternoon with the cleaning suplays out in the middle of the hall. In one ocassion I had to jump over a bucket and a mop that was in the middle of the way to my room "very unproffesional". The hotel is close to a main shopping street and Metro.

We were very disappointed with the quality of the room, bad bed, old pillow and the room location. Room 109 had a horrible location at the end of the hallway. The rooms looked like a storage room converted into a room. You hear everything not only when someone talked on the hallway but the doors slams.

Nice hotel in area with easy access to lots of attractions. Room was very small but functional (to be expected in Europe). Staff were great especially the man on in the morning. He was exceptional. My only complaint was on the second night when a group traveling together were very noisy and seemed to have most of their discussions and arguments in the hall. Overall a good choice and i would go back.

Beware of their reliability. We arrived exhausted from a long trip, with a commitment to have dinner with friends at an appointed time. We were greeted with the news that there was no room at the inn, and would have to move to another hotel in another part of town — which turned out to be inconvenient. We will never again make plans to stay at the Hotel Sterling.

The hotel was decent enough. Not a real great neoghborhood but close enough to the Grand Via. We arrived in the middle of the night so the neighborhood surrounding the neighborhood was very sketchy and scaring from the metro stop. The hotel was clean but I have stayed in better hotels in Europe. But my biggest qualm is that it did not have the friendliest of staff at all. We had 2 separate reservations due to a flight coming in late which caused a lot of confusion. We checked in at 1 am in the morning and told the staff member that we had another separate reservation for next 2 nights and if we could stay in our same room that we were first checking in our whole visit which for a total of 3 nights. The clerk confirmed yes and since it was well past 1am we went to our room and unpacked and slept until we were rudely awoken at noon telling us to get out of the room that they have another room to place us in. We hadn’t even showered and we had unpacked everything so we told the hotel we needed time. Not even an hour later the hotel staff sent an abrupt lady to our room to kick us out. We tried to reason with her that we were working on it but she wouldn’t listen just repeated herself over and over again. Once we did leave they did at least give us another room right away but it was quite rude to tell us one thing the night before and then forcibly try to remove us the next day not knowing that the clerk had misspoken. They didn’t apologize or anything.
