Limburg Province

Flemish Region
Limburg Province
This Belgian province is nature pure and the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday with your partner or family. Discover beautiful Belgian Limburg!

The Belgian province of Limburg borders on the Dutch province of Limburg and is just as picturesque. Visit the lovely villages, chat with the locals and discover the beautiful countryside.

The history of the Belgian province of Limburg is rather odd compared with the rest of the region. Unlike the rest of Flanders, this province was never part of the Spanish or Austrian Netherlands. Instead, it belonged to the Prince-Bishopric of Liège until the 18th century. You can still see traces of this history today.

Start your holiday in Limburg by discovering the surrounding nature. Visit the orchards and the rolling hills of Hesbaye in the spring, discover the green valleys or admire Campine and cycle or walk through the woods. Here you will also find Belgium's only national park, National Park de Hoge Kempen (Hoge Kempen National Park). Hesbaye is also home to several interesting buildings, such as the impressive Castle van Heers and Château de la Motte.

You absolutely cannot leave without visiting the capital of Limburg, namely the charming town of Hasselt. Climb the Beiaardtoren for a beautiful view of the city and taste the local culture in the Jenever museum. Just outside the city you’ll find the perfect place to take the kids: open-air museum Bokrijk.

Discover Limburg's countryside by bicycle or on foot or go horse riding. Longer distances are easily travelled by local public transport, and no trouble whatsoever by car if you’re driving. Enjoy the Belgian countryside and discover everything this beautiful province has to offer.

You can reach Belgian Limburg by car, train, plane, or ferry from England and/or by car or train from the Netherlands should you be holidaying there.

If you’re travelling by public transport you should be aware that a few of Limburg's towns don't have train stations.

Enjoy a great stay in the beautiful nature of Belgian Limburg. Whether you're looking for an active holiday or a relaxing week in a beautiful setting, this is the perfect destination for both!
