Convenient location between castle and shopping arcade. Taxi from train station is about 1500 yen. The hotel could use a renovation, but it's a good value.

Very nice room, spacious, with everything one needs.Excellent bed. Nicely designed and decorated lobby and restaurant. For a 5 night stay like mine, it would be nice to have more than just two breakfast options which gets a little boring if you can have only the exactly same two. The breakfast meals as such were otherwise fine and tasty..

Self parking is easy and friendly staff. Booked a castle view room and is spacious. Breakfast is limited to either Japanese or western set which is good enough. Overall will recommend to stay!

Wonderful stay from checkin to check out staff are very accomodating and friendly restaurant A+ for breakfast and and happy hour ... rooms best in kyushu with ample space...would definitely stay again.

English standard of the staff was good. We were travelling with 2 young kids and unable to get our car rental to proceed on to mount aso. The staff was very helpful and went all the way out to help us get to our next destination.

Second time staying here and it was just as great as the first time. The is the first and last place I look when visiting Kumamoto.

This is a 4-star hotel, which caught me completely off-guard given how affordable the room was. I was more or less a fish out of water in that environment. Not particularly used to people always wanting to attend to me! Anyways, the overall hotel is extremely nice, though the rooms are a bit basic in comparison. Location is effectively perfect; Kumamoto Castle is across the street and the shopping arcade is a block behind you. Trams run in front. Multiple in-house dining options as well, though I did not use them. Parking is limited; on the first night I had to use a different lot that has a contract with the hotel, but the valet moved my car to the property the next morning on my behalf.

We had a lovely stay here. the staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful. The room was cozy and comfortable after a long day of touring shrines. The view of the castle as breathtaking. We would highly recommend this.

Beautiful view of the historic Kumamoto Castle. Convenient location to downtown. Walking distance to many restaurants and shopping areas. Professional staff. Rooms were a decent size. Temperature in the rooms were hard to control.

Beautiful hotel, nicely located with terrific service. We had some problems with our air-conditioning and we were upgraded to another room. The staff were super helpful. The breakfast was also a great experience (Western and Japanese available). There are many nearby restaurants. We were cycling and left our bikes in the indoor parking garage. Terrific hotel.

I stayed here twice now, and it is a hotel with 20th century charm and pedigree. You get a wonderful view of the Kumamoto Castle, which is under restoration. Rooms are well appointed. Staff is top notch. I usually don't call out names, but if you search around, C.R. has been praised for his really good English, and I think he helps westerners feel comfortable coming to the place. I go visit the castle from another part of Japan where I live. I look forward to staying at this hotel when I do.
