100% book this place
The NICEST hostel i have ever stayed in. They have thought of everything you could need, its super modern and very clean. My favourite attraction of helsinki was this hostel!

They cancelled my reservation at the last moment, but kept my money. Refusing to refund. Staff very unhelpful and very slow. I wanted to say "you get what you pay for", but in this case I paid money and got nothing. So my sincere recco is to stay away from this shady place.

Dear Evgeny,Thank you for your review. Unfortunately for guest safety reasons we can not accommodate men in the female dorms, because the girls have payed for an all-female room. If the guest has chosen a female dorm and is a man, we either have to relocate the booking to another room or if there is no space we need to cancel the booking.I hope you still had a lovely time in Helsinki!

Good location and nice lobby with good kitchen facilities for all guests. However, our "private room with window" turned out to be non-ventilated, and the window was deliberately locked. The result being that there was no fresh air whatsoever and about 25 degrees room temperature for the night.

It is a basic hostel for the price almost equal to a hotel room somewhere else. Need to pay for towels separate. Shared bath room every time seems someone is always in it. Basic shower…total disappointment for the price!

Great hostel in a great location.
I love this hostel because of the small details that makes traveling easy and convenient. Curtains give privacy for each dorm bed, the bathrooms are clean, door code is sent ahead of time, plenty to watch on tv, and basics for cooking in the kitchen.

The layout is weird. The hangout area is right in the center. So people can see you when you’re in/out the room/front door. When you go for shower/kitchen... Most people staying are young. They party until 4am then come back to the room and wake everyone by talking loud

Absolutely not for business travellers. I had to wait at the door for long time until someone Answer the door. They didnt tell me I had to pay for the towels and when I found out, there was nobody in the reception during 3 days. Because I left early in the morning and came back after 20.00 everyday. Basicly I didnt have towel for 3 days plus I didnt even have my own private toilet even I booked a double room for my own. Never again !!!

Fantastic hostel
Excellent stay. I used to stay at hostels more often in my younger years, but now in my early 40s I more often do not. However, prices in Helsinki lead me to The Yard, and boy am I glad it did. What a great hostel. Located on the 3rd floor of a mixed-use building, you enter by a shared building entry along a pedestrian street and then buzz into the hostel. Once you're properly checked in you will receive codes to enter the building. The hostel is social but not loud. The living room is super comfortable, with some conversation and sometimes just people quietly working or on their computers. Age range varies, probably skewing younger but i was not the only non-20-something there. I was in a female-only room with 4 bunks (8 beds) in a HUGE room with wonderful light and seating area. Drawers under the beds can be locked, and open cubbies are also provided for non-valuables. Each bed has a curtain to ensure privacy, and in each bed area are outlets, a reading lamp, and shelf. Very clean. The hostel provides sheets and blankets, though you have to make your own bed. They do NOT provide a bath towel. I found this annoying. Rental was, I think, 2 euros. In my opinion, charge 2 euros more per night and nobody will bat an eye. Front desk service is super friendly and helpful. I was able to leave my bag in their bag room before check-in and after check-out. Be mindful that no staff is on site at night. Breakfast is provided, and it was basic but adequate.

Way too overpriced for what it is. I understand you are paying for Helsinki/Finnish city centre prices but still, because the amenities do not meet the mark, the price is just frustrating. The best part of the hostel is the common area. Apart from that the rooms are super cramped, the beds are very shaky and squeaky. Toilets are so tiny that the sink is literally in front of you when seated. Only 1 private shower room, the other is a shared-gender shower room with frosted glass that isn't full length. For such an expensive bed, they don't provide towels and you have to rent one for EUR2. Good bits - lockers under bed, plugs and light at each bed, and privacy curtain. Would not recommend - if the hostel hit the basics right, the price would have justified itself for the location, but right now it just falls super short.

The main lounge area was nice with a high quality TV. Wi-Fi was very good. The rooms were well designed but the beds were kind of small . Great location!

Great location in Helsinki - walking distance to many local sites (Helsinki cathedral, library, music center, etc.) Very clean rooms, baths, sitting area. Friendly and helpful host. Great value for a short stay. Only complaint I have is the mattress - it felt lumpy and offered no support. If I weren't so exhausted, I probably wouldn't have been able to fall asleep :)

Comfortable hostel near city centre, with variety of restaurants and shops nearby. Use shared bathroom and shower. Simple breakfast includes bread, cereal, juice and coffee. Helpful hostel staff and useful information available at the front desk :)

The hostel is easy to find, and very nice inside. The dorms are big and spacious, although a few more hooks to hand up clothes and wet towels would be good. Breakfast is pretty simple, so you might not get too full up.

Sophisticated city centre concept hostel
I came for the sight-seeing, not to party, and this is perfect for that! The hostel is clean quiet and comfortably trendy - do not expect to be babysat here. The team run it like a home from home, so the front door isn't open to random people coming and going - very secure. Likewise the communal areas are a comfortable living room, not a frat party. :) I met some awesome people to go to the bars just across the street, which was perfect, as it's nice to return to the quiet hostel at the end of the night, ready for another wonderful day in Helsinki!
