Great location by the Fort. Lovely pool and pool bar, but shame no other bar in the lobby, that was the only downside along with not much seating area around the bar (plenty of loungers by the pool).

The good - really good location close to the Dutch fort. Great views from the hotel facing the beach and fort. The spa is good The not so good - service is not on par with a property that is marked as five star. The room had no coffee. Called for room service and was told they don't deliver coffee to the room because it will get cold. I have never heard that before. Had to call in the evening to get the room cleaned and after that we had to call again to get the amenities restocked. For the price that was charged for the rooms this is not the level of service expected.

The hotel is located in an idyllic spot - on the sea with the Dutch fort a few minutes away by foot. The rooms are spacious; some with beautiful direct sea views. We were given a free upgrade to one of these rooms, and we enjoyed the views and breezes from our terrace immensely. The bathrooms have Japanese-style toilets, which were a surprising touch. The breakfast was very good, and the staff from the front desk to housekeeping to dining was professional, warm and attentive. Our only complaint were the ants in the bathroom and in the bed. We gave the feedback to management. Given the location, it's likely that sealing up the source of the ants will address the issue. The property also has a very nice and updated gym, large pool, and other services on the property.

The staff are exceptionally polite and kind. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone interested in staying in this part of Galle, Sri Lanka.

Good hotel in Galle
The Hotel is very good, with a good location near the Dutch Fort. The hotel has a mix of resort and modern feel. Breakfast is good and has all what you would expect. There are good food options for lunch/dinner in the Fort. Note: while the hotel is on the beach, you won't be able to swim in it. Beaches are around 20 minutes drive.

Fabulous hotel and staff. Generally very good for this price level. Compared to the other two hotels we stayed at this hotel was far more reasonable for food/drink pricing. So you don't feel like you're getting ripped off.

AC not working and staff refused to change our room even after maintenance came multiple times. Staff was rude and not helpful. Bad location, very dirty all around. The hotel itself looks nice but as soon as you look closely, a lot of things don’t work - AC, jacuzzi, bar, etc.

Dear Guest,Thank you for taking time to review the experience of your stay.On the night you checked in,you had complained the reception that the AC is not cooling properly so the hotel's chief engineer who was also the manager on duty has gone to the room checked and it was working well.This was confirmed after checking from the thermometer and at the point it was 17 centigrades which is way above the normal cooling levels and standards.Since you were not happy with the room the duty manager had offered you a Plunge pool suite (a higher category room) for sleeping purpose and move to your room again the next morning once it is fully checked but you have insisted that you need the same for your entire stay.This was not possible because there were bookings for the higher category rooms the next day. Then you had decided to stay in your originally booked room on that night.You have never informed the hotel on issues of Jacuzzi or bar.If so, we would take actions on the same.The next day morning you had come to the reception and complained again asking for a higher category room and the manager has clearly informed you that it was not available.Finally you had agreed to move for a premium room.In couple of hours when the reception called you to move the room you have said that "Expedia has found you a new hotel'" and you left the hotel without informing the reception leaving behind an additional bill without paying.We,as a hotel has tried our very best to accommodate you with comfort and I am sorry that we could not meet up with your requirement.

Wonderful hotel, highly recommended.
We loved this place. Spent ten nights in a plunge suite and it was beautiful-huge area, fabulous bathroom, extra comfortable XL bed and superb view out onto ocean, Malith our room attendant took care of our room daily and did a great job. The hotel is great, pool is beautiful and the pool attendant and bar man looked after us. The food from both restaurants is delicious, service across the hotel is brilliant and the team cannot do enough for you. Upeka from Guest Relations was lovely and really took care of us from start to finish. Very close to Galle Fort so lots to do. Highly recommend this hotel without a doubt.

I did not stay at this hotel. I was confined to 1 rated ( safe & secure) hotels as a foreign tourist. I had to stay in Heritance Negombo & Taj Bentota for a total of 13 nights. I also never book a non refundable rate at this time, since covid 19 requires flexibility.

Wonderful view of the fort. Really nice infinity pool and good sunset views. Nice large room with big bath. Lots of space. Friendly welcome. Breakfast was OK - not amazing service and we had to ask a number of times for coffees, water, etc. Compared to the rest of our trip bottled water was pretty expensive here. The omelettes were tasty. Really mixed experience in the spa. My massage was terrible. My partner’s was outstanding. Although they did not charge for mine in the end which was really good of them. Unfortunately, despite the great position of the hotel next to the fort, for 2 days of our 3 day trip, there was horrifically loud deep techno music playing right beside the hotel at some private car sales event. It completely disrupted our stay but on the upside, did mean that we ventured outside the hotel and had a great day in Unawatuna beach and the really cute centre of Galle. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but there could have been some small improvements to make it even better.

Great location, facilities of this low rise boutique hotel open a year & half was lovely . Beach side (a little rocky) & pool side had views back to the old forte. Plus walkable to the forte & old town, or by yuk yuk. Would definitely like to come back

Fantastic in every way

We have just returned from eleven days at Le Grand Galle,what a wonderful hotel! The staff were fantastic nothing was a problem and always with a smile .The bedroom was spacious with a large comfortable bed.The food was fantastic especially the breakfast,The pool area was very relaxing with comfortable beds and lots of fluffy towels.Thanks again to everyone,We will be back.Joe and Molli Power

This beautifully designed property is ideally located and beautifully equipped. Our room was large and the balcony faced the magnificent sunset. The hotel is quiet and I would say most suitable for couples on honeymoon My two gripes: There was no full length mirror in the room and the ghastly background music in the restaurant and bar area, It is monotonous and relentless.

World Class Hotel! Definitely stay here!
We've traveled all over the world and this is among the very best we've ever stayed at. The facility is beautiful and impeccably taken care of. It has been beautifully restored without losing any of its colonial charm. The food is incredible - even the cocktails are creative and excellent! The grounds are awesome, with the pool overlooking the sea, and are beautifully cared for. The Spa is fantastic - we had great massages, at a very reasonable price. The staff is AMAZING - everyone is friendly and accommodating - they even remember you and your unique requirements. We stayed here for 3 nights, went away for a week and returned, and they remembered us and gave us the same room, which we loved. This is also a great value for this quality. It compares favorably in charm and quality to the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai, but is slightly better (and a few years older!), but is MUCH more reasonable, both in the room prices and in the cost of everything you might purchase in the hotel. Also, the location is perfect! We'd strongly recommend the Galle Face!

The hotel is portrayed as being on the beach which it is, however it is a tiny area encircled by rocks. The tiny swimming area is filled with floating garbage. Not an inviting image. If you want beach you'll have ti go a few of kilometers south as in back on the main road and a fun ride in a tuck-tuck. The rooms are spacious but you better not be modest as the bathroom is divided from the sleeping area by a glass wall. Although their is an attempt to screen the glass the curtain over the glass is transparent. Don't bring the kids. You can see the old Dutch fort from the hotel property, but again out to the main road and another tuck-tuck ride to get there. The staff is friendly, as are all Sri Lanlkans, but their ability to communicate needs some improvement. And their knowledge of area attractions, activities, restaurants etc. is lacking. Perhaps some training and development opportunities here. For the money check out other resorts in the general area. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. I have to admit I didn't and I paid the price. Way to much for this one.

Great weekend trip!
Great weekend getaway, perfect for a short trip! Only let down was the spa, not particularly great staff but this is a separate franchise. Hotel itself was fantastic, would definitely recommend!

This is an absolutely beautiful property, within walking distance to the FORT. Room are huge, well equipped, and clean. The staff are amazing and very helpful. Don't skip the breakfast!

Absolute pleasure staying here. Staff consciously trying to go above and beyond to ensure we had what we needed- this includes recommendations on what to do in the area and also cooking items not even on the menu for my demanding wife (hope she doesn't read this)

This is a beautiful new hotel overlooking the Galle Fort and the ocean. There is no direct beach access/swimming but the swimming pool is lovely directly overlooking the Fort and ocean. The staff is absolutely wonderful in every way. Breakfast is a delicious feast and dinner in the Blue seafood restaurant is a must. One of the best meals ever! Only a 15 minute walk or 3 minute tuk tuk ride to the beautiful Fort with unique restaurants and shopping. Great attention to detail at this hotel. We will definitely visit again!

Food could be better, very limited .Front desk training would help, they couldn’t even arrange us a taxi. Very little atmosphere in hotel. They need to tell the aggressive tuk tuk driver outside the hotel reception to back off. However rooms outstanding

We had a lovely recent visit to Le Grand Galle. The hotel was very quiet as it was off season. They were kind enough to upgrade us to a room with a plunge pool. Fabulous! We loved that it was close to town so we could walk to the Fort (even at night). Overall, the hotel is still growing up as it is only a year or two old but the rooms are amazing and the staff is very friendly. We look forward to visiting them again in future.

Beautiful secluded property on the water! They did an amazing job designing & building this new resort. The restaurant "Blue" is also awesome! Sagara the chef does an incredible job! The food & service was perfect!

Great service and very friendly staff. Would have loved to give it 5/5 if we didn’t have few issues: - Noisy AC system in the room makes it difficult to have a restful sleep - Staff are very friendly but a bit too intrusive - Breakfast menu could have been better

The resort is fairly new so in great condition, We visited Sri Lanka in May just after the terrorist attacks and the hotels we stayed at had less than 10% occupancy. On the negative side, some food items were not available (e.g. seafood as it would have gone to waste) and the resort was very quiet. On the positive side we were overrun with the friendly staff and had personal service. Special compliments to Suko at reception and to Lalith at the bar who was more like our personal butler!
