"Cogne is simply beautiful. Small enough to be charming, big enough to stay busy and entertained. The Chateau Royal was a great home base. Centrally located, comfortable and we'll equipped. We originally booked two nights but added two more as it was such a great village with so much to do. We hiked, fished, rafted and paraglided plus catching some of the abundant castles and forts in the Sister Valley). This one is a do-over (we'll be back:-)."

BUT we did not know that we would be in a slightly below ground floor unit, with windows that could, in practice, only be opened a few inches at the top. AND THERE WERE NO SCREENS. Flying insects could and did fly in. In addition, the couch was worn. The bathroom, while very nice, lacked storage and surface area. The bed had only a foam mattress--no inner spring. "We had such a gorgeous time there and it seemed like such a warm family run place. Trying to be objective, the stairs in our apartment was treacherous and the shower was literally the smallest I’ve ever been in. But it was lovely, it’s hard to explain! I felt I could ask the team for anything and they would try to help. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. "
