The unlimited access to Borobudur would make staying here worthwhile and there is the advantage of beautiful grounds and a nice room.

Super Convenient to Borobudur Temple
The hotel was amazingly close to the temple. Since it’s in the grounds of the National Park, it was only a 5 minutes walk to the temple site. The room was a little small but adequate. The garden was beautifully maintained, providing a very peaceful and tranquil surroundings. The restaurant served good local cuisine at very reasonable prices, considering there were not much options near the hotel. The bathroom basin could be cleaner. The staff were very friendly and smiling. Overall was a very enjoyable experience.

On-site restaurant served pretty good food at decent price. Hotel setting is tranquil and good for relaxation. Puts you within 5 mins of Borobudur and gives some discounts for access (probably reflected in the premium you pay for the accommodation). Makes the Sunrise/Sunset tours a lot more accessible.

If you are going to Bodobodur to see the magnificent temple, this is absolutely the best place to stay. Take the horse cart to visit the surrounding viilages.

Living next to Borobudur site
Overall a pleasant experience. Facilities inside room very basic, no bedside table, harassed by street vendors walking outside hotel gate to Borobudur. We chose this hotel due to close proximity to Borobudur giving us more sleep time than travelling from Yogya city. We liked the barrister who special brewed coffee for my spouse.

Promising but disappointed
Upon arriving, the grounds were beautiful and staff very welcoming, but the rooms were musty and not the cleanest. It appeared that the resort was not busy and many of the rooms had not been occupied for some time, so the room we had seemed 'stale' (dusty and some bugs were found...). We asked for another room and it seemed slightly better, at least for wifi (since some rooms don't get wifi at all), but it ended up still not being that clean. I had placed a muffin on the counter beside the entrance door, only to find that a couple hours later, a long stream of ants from the backdoor, had made it across the entire room along the wall to the muffin. Staff was great in helping clean up and the army of ants went down to a random few... This place felt like twilight zone. I found it weird how many staff was around for the amount of guests. And the gamelan music just looped and looped...great location for visiting Borobudur though.

Sunset at Borobudur
The Manohara Hotel made it very easy for us to visit Borobudur Temple before sunsrise - it is a quick walk to the monument, and a great and easy way to get on that tour. The hotel itself has impeccably manucured gardens and rooms, while not very big, are clean and quiet.

Expensive but great location
The location was fantastic for visiting borobudor temple. Lovely grounds and good security. Great wifi.Decent staff service and restaurant. But we had an unfortunate experience with a mouse running around on the breakfast buffet table and several of the dishes were uncovered. Also, a large cockroach scurrying around the sitting area of the breakfast place. There was inadequate hot water for shower.

Great location. Great hotel.
The hotel is well situated and it's easy to access Borobodur. The staff were friendly and the place very calm. Overall we'll keep a great memory from this stay, I just think that it is overpriced. $100 for a night is just too much.

Great location, well worth the extra cost
We were here for one night with objective of seeing the temple at dusk and dawn. To be able to visit the temple when we wanted, avoiding crowds was a huge plus, being able to run back from the temple if a thunderstorm threatened. We kept to public hours but you still have lovely light. The hotel automatically gives you the entry tickets (included in the hotel price), so efficient and easy. The gardens were lovely and the rooms clean, comfortable etc. the food was reasonably priced and very nice. There was a short video intro to the temple that you could see when you wanted. I would really recommend staying here.

Nice hotel in walking distance to Borobodur temple
Unbeatable location for Borobodur temple. The hotel has its own 'sunset' and 'sunrise' Borobudur temple tours. Beautiful and well maintained gardens with view of the temple. There is not much else to do in the area, so one night stay is probably enough. The lunch and breakfast are average. The staff are pleasant but not attentive (e.g. had to wait quite a long time and call the staff over if we needed anything more).

Manohara for Borobudur site seeing.
Pickup at the airport was smooth. Check in easy. I asked for a wake up call that I never received but I had set my own alarm and was up earlier due to jet lag. Comfortable hotel with attentive staff. You get what you pay for. Borobudur is a must see if you are anywhere near here but you don't have to be topside for the sunrise at 4:30 am, however it is nice and cool then. Expect crowds atop the temple, not huge, but still a lot of photographers.

Recommended for easy access to Borobudur temple
I think this is the right place to stay if you plan to visit Borobudur.. It is very convenient to get to the temple with just few minute walk. The ambience in the hotel is very quiet and there is swing outside of our room which I like it very much! You can spent time sleeping, reading or meditating, basically you're pretty much detached from outside or technology world. The town is pretty small and there isn't much food choices and we spent most of our time eating in the hotel. The thing that I wish the hotel could improve is on the food. the food quality is so-so and to be honest mostly sweet, I was expecting more spicy Indonesian food featured :)

Nice Hotel but just stay 1 Night would be suffice
I would recommend only 1 NIGHT STAY. Nothing much to do except to see the Temple.Except for Elephant Park and Dagen Hill, nothing to see in the neighbourhood. Only one restaurant and nothing to do past 7pm. While the grounds are nice, staff is helpful and close proximity to the temple, there is nothing much to do.

great location; good service; poor property
The towels were clean but has a grimy grayish look. We asked for more water but was told we are restricted to two bottles a day which is ridiculous as people nowadays are advised to drink 8 glasses of water a day; so if there are two or three people per room please allow more bottles per room. There was no shaving kit provided and I had to get hotel to buy for us - fortunately hotel staff agreed to help buy. Restaurant must have an airconditioned section and we won't mind if they charge more.

Cannot beat the location to Borobudur Temple!
My husband and I stayed one night here in order to take advantage of the hotel's proximity to Borobudur Temple. We are immensely pleased with our decision and highly recommend the Manohara if that, too, is your goal. We opted to do the sunrise tour offered through the hotel (about $20 for hotel guests) and it was so nice not to have to travel far for a 4:30AM start time. The temple is located at your doorstep and you have unlimited entry for the duration of your stay. The hotel's rooms and facilities are fairly basic. The bathroom in our room was a little grungy, but nothing we couldn't deal with for a short stay. The restaurant has a simple menu (both Indonesian and western options) with "ok" food. The hotel's employees were all lovely - friendly, helpful and professional. We would not hesitate to stay here if visiting Borobudur Temple in the future.

Stayed here for one night to see Borobudur. Convenience to the monument was amazing. Hotel grounds itself were really well done in an open environment. Hotel room was comfortable although TV offerings were slim. WiFi works in a few areas only. Dinner was nice, breakfast was plentiful. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Perfect location!
At simple but lovely hotel, there's nothing would change other than add a swimming pool! The whole atmosphere is one of calm, with live gamelan music as you arrive and during dinner. Rooms are small but fine, although you can hear a sounds from the joining room. Every room has a beautiful little terrace overlooking the wonderful gardens, with chairs and a table. Food is great, but don't expect alcohol others than beer, a UNESCO rule I was told! The highlight, walking across the lawns to unlimited free entry into the Borobodur temple site. You are a two minute walk from climbing those magnificent steps. The staff were lovely, try to find 30 minutes to watch the film in the threatre, it puts lots of what you see into context. One other favourite for me, the in room massage they can organise. It's very cheap and Mamo, the masseuse is possibly the best I've ever had.

1 night only experience not longer...
The ground was beautifully maintained, spacious resort with traditional arkitecture design. Our room was in a nice location with a terrace across from the breakfast area and the reception. All in all, a good choice if you want to stay overnight for a visit to the Borobudur sight. We had dinner in the restaurant as there seemed no other alternatives. The food was nice for such remote location, some entertainment or music would have been good because it was generally dark, empty and quiet. Some points to improve are: Towels in the bathroom were damp, grey, worn and old.Breakfast was very basic and disappointing. No bread variety, dishes were cold and not replaced promptly. The taxi was fixed at IDR350000 back to town, which was a lot more than IDR280000 we paid from our previous hotel for the same distance. Staff was formal and not friendly. The film was shown for us in the film room but the room was very hot and uncomfortable. We later found that we could have watched it on tv in our room instead. It is a long way from town, and there is nothing to do in neighbourhood other than a visit to Borobudur sight.1 night was more than enough.

All about the location
Let's be honest, the only reason anyone would stay here is for the location inside the borobudur park. If it was anywhere else, it would be considered extraordinarily overpriced. Room facilities are average, sheets needed replacing, bathroom could have been cleaner. For the same price you could stay somewhere much nicer. On the other hand, you're there to see borobudur, and this is the most convenient place from which to do so. Also, the room price includes entry to borobudur, which makes it not so overpriced.
