Owner was very accommodating when we realised our booking had been accidentally made for the following day.. Typical old country town pub, old, creaky and a bit past needing a bit of a face lift. Have to go to bathroom down the hallway, but excellent shower! Breakfast is a complete non event, but for the price per night it’s a reasonable place to spend a night.

Room was recently refurbished so was clean and comfortable. Bathrooms too were modern and very easily accessible. Sadly couldn't open balcony doors due to building works. All in all a good stay and would stay again. Thanks for looking after us.

Under New Management
The Blyth Hotel is a traditional country pub with accommodation. Darren and Leigh, were welcoming and friendly. The room was renovated and very clean with a view over the veranda and Main Street. Breakfast was cereal, toast and coffee, which was ample before we head off to some wineries. Interestingly everywhere we went the locals were happy to know the hotel was under new management. We would definitely stay again

Country Gem
The hotel is basic but for the price is a great option especially when Clare is full, too expensive or you want to stay somewhere quaint. The service is friendly and thorough. The rooms are newly updated and although smallish they are adequate with comfortable bed, new linen, air con or fan. The shared bathroom facilities are also newly updated and pleasant to use. The breakfast is also an added bonus with cereal and toast and put out the night before so you can enjoy at whatever time. The only minor comments are - the squeaky floor as it’s an old place so you can hear when others are up, the bathrooms ran out of toilet paper as was a full house when I was there and the pub closes early but this can be a positive item too. I would stay again when in the area.
Response from Darren on 21 Jun 2018
We have taken over the hotel since your stay, but will endeavour to keep up the standard you enjoyed.

Handy spot to stay overnight after the Clare races
The room was big and nicely decorated, the only things missing was a minibar and your own bathroom. But that’s being picky The shared bathrooms were a good size and convenient to our room. The snitzel dinner we had in the dining room was fantastic The owner Jared was welcoming and regaled is with many stories of the hotel upgrade as well as the local sporting teams and surrounding area history. Overall we enjoyed our stay

Basic
No TV in room No access to Wifi No attempt to celebrate Easter with the added touch of a hot cross buns at breakfast or tiny egg with coffee Ladies toilet out of toilet paper from 4am and still not replaced by the time we left at 9am No blow wave hair dryer in communal shower room and no sign of staff prior to leaving to ask about it. A little concerned that emergency exit if there was a fire was through a combination lock door into private access room.

Hello Sharon, Thank you for your feedback it is much appreciated. I would like to clarify some of your concerns. The information provided regarding our rooms and Hotel states clearly before booking that our rooms do not currently have TV's in them. There are TV facilities located in our guest lounge. It also clearly states that Wifi is not currently available. There is also no mention of a blow wave hair dryer in the bathroom facilities. I am terribly sorry that the toilet paper supply in the ladies toilet had run out. Our housekeeping team start work at 9am each morning, around the same time as you left, and hence would not have had an opportunity to replace the paper. Our emergency paths of exit are clearly marked with illuminated signage, and a diagram of the hotel premises showing the best path of exit from each accommodation room is also on display near the light switch inside each room. Each public area of the hotel also has on display an exit path diagram showing the quickest path of exit. For the 1st floor the quickest path of exit is straight down the hallway in front of the main internal staircase. The main internal staircase is also another path of exit. The exit door you refer to in your comments is automatically opened upon activation of the fire system and leads not to a private access room, but rather to another hallway which leads to another external access door. If the fire system has not been activated to open the combination lock there is a manual override emergency button right next to the combination lock Hence, in case of fire or emergency there are 3 paths of exit available from the 1st floor. I agree it would have been a nice touch to offer some Easter themed niceties to the complimentary breakfast. We will be sure to implement this next year. Kind Regards Jarrod Egan

Great value comfort
The Blythe offers old-style, friendly hospitality with 'unserviced' style accommodation. The room was not overly spacious but quite comfy. The old floorboards creak in the hallways but otherwise it is very quiet. The communal bathroom is small but neat and clean - bring a bathrobe for easier access. A serve-yourself continental breakfast in the dining room is included, making it convenient and great value for a short stopover.

Recently refurbished historic hotel stay
Welcoming staff, and great first impressions. Nicely appointed room and facilities. Comfortable four poster bed provided us with a good nights sleep. Although the breakfast needs improving. For an extra $10 there could be a bigger selection of breads, juices, percolated coffee and quality cereals.

Classic old country hotel
The Blyth hotel is definitely worth a stay, close to Clare and winery region. The young owners are doing a great job of breathing new life into this old Dame! Extensive renovations & redecorating has taken place with more on the agenda. The rooms lack some of the amenities one usually expects, i.e. on suite, in room T.V. tea & coffee facilities, however there was a T.V. viewing room which had tea & coffee making facilities.T.V. only received ABC though! The pub also had in house dining with a limited menu ,food very good.Fresh home made salads accompanied meals. We had a balcony room, but sadly the balcony is yet to be renovated, but this appears to be the next project. We would certainly recommend this country hotel accommodation and we wish the young owners success.

Thank you Anne-Claire for your kind words of encouragement! Our apologies for the limited TV channels during your stay, the set top box needed a re-scan for some reason. We do apologise for the outdated TV set up in the guest lounge, but the good news is flat screen TV's will soon be installed in all our guest rooms and we will be retiring that old girl for good! Thanks again for your kind words, they mean alot!
