Away this area. Not for families.
I flew in to attend a funeral but my regular hotel accidentally mucked up my booking on NYE so I stayed in Ibis as prices were exorbitantly high from AUD700 to AUD11.5k/night on NYE! Wasn't going to stay far at airport areas. Alternatively was to fly to province and back just for the night even with a budget of over AUD500. Yes I am an Accor plus member but Sofitel informed I couldn't redeem my free night. With AUD11.5k I might as well stay in Bulgari in Milan or mandarin oriental in St Moritz at their peak ski season now. Money is better spent on charity in Thailand or under royal patronage.
Bathroom smaller than Europe. Poorly designed on space/arragement. No power outlets besides 2 for kettle and only 1 USB by the bed light! TV size same as my maid! She was given a Sony. Shock horror! Worst than rural guesthouses in rural Thailand or in Udon! Avoid Ibis Thailand. No security to lift levels. No porter upon check-in. Uber guy helped.
I was given a late checkout and came down at 13:20 after a shower. The same front desk staff were on and being New Year's despite a horrible stay, I felt compassionate and tip every single staff at front desk plus housekeeping and car park porter much to their appreciation. A small gesture of gratitude or a nod since I was wearing a mask. Practically stayed in the hotel the entire time besides buying some street food back.
