A quiet -perfectly located for tourism -traditional small hotel in an C18 ‘mansion’. Friendly informal service. We stayed in the annexe of ‘superior’ rooms with ( very basic) kitchenettes. The rooms are spacious but in need of some renewal (e.g. the shower/bath). Simple continental breakfast €11.

I stayed here for six nights while visiting my daughter in Aix. You absolutely cannot beat location!! I loved being able to have one of the windows in my bathroom open every night and there was absolutely no noise (even though in middle of town) to wake you up during the night. Everyone was so nice & everything was so clean.

The place is really special with an old World feel about it enhanced by a large room with bathroom and kitchen annexed, and being right next to an art museum and the St John of Malta Church dating back to the 13th century. Staff were friendly. The downside was cleanliness. The electric jug had a film on it, pots were unclean and a cup had lipstick on it. Just a little bit of effort scrubbing the bath and dishes would help. Also while there is dish cleaner and scrubbing brush there is no tea towel to dry the dishes.

This a charming old world hotel, a very enjoyable experience, set in what has to be one of the worlds most unusually charming places. If you visit, you will want come back as we have done for 20 years.

A perfect place to stay in Aix-en-Provence
My daughter and I both loved Hotel Cardinal. The staff are extremely kind and helpful and I loved the family feeling of the hotel. The breakfasts were wonderful. We liked our room. The hotel is ideally situated to walk all over Aix-en-Provence -- it couldn't be more centrally located, yet one still had the feeling of peace and calm in this traditional hotel. You can hear the church bells and walk up to Rue D'Italie for restaurants, patisseries, fromageries, etc. What made everything extra special were the beautiful Christmas decorations everywhere, especially in the hotel. I'm ready to return right now.

We had a beautiful main floor room that opened into our own private courtyard with fountains. A very nice surprise. We had a 3 person family room. Large bathroom with nice fixtures. No shower but the deep tub had a nice handheld. The only downside was there's no parking nearby and very narrow one way streets. But that would apply to all the similar hotels in the area

The room was gorgeous and very historic. Website said the property has an elevator, which isn’t true for some parts. The lady at the front desk was nice enough to help haul my luggage up the 3 flights of stairs. It was a bit precarious bringing it all down to check out. The breakfast was absolutely lovely.

Quaint hotel with charm - Superb!
Fantastic! The location is perfect...walking distance to everything. The service is spectacular, which is perfect for an early start to the day. Otherwise, I recommend breakfast at any of the cafés just minutes from the hotel to experience the town.

Hotel very old French decor that is why we booked it. Only negative point parking is a nightmare - it’s on the street and very tight turning from side streets with high kerbs ideal for scuffing wheels. Parking is free for 90 minutes just get the appropriate ticket from the machine.

Hotel Cardinal has one of the best locations in Aix. It's close to the major places of interest of the city. The breakfast is abundant. However, the oilcloth tableware being sprayed and wiped out while one is having breakfast is somewhat strange. But all in all we're happy to come back.

A bit old furniture which did not look too clean
The hotel is located in the center and in walkable distance from the main spots. The concept and style are classical and very nice. The only disappointment were the smell of sweat inside the room and overall not very clean textile parts of furniture

A gem in the heart of the old Aix
If you like art, French culture and tradition, this is your place to stay in central Aix. The whole building is adorned with period furniture, art, and flowers. Our double room was spacious, the bathroom impeccable. We love the continental breakfast served on a silver tray in a beautiful salon and classical music in the background. We stayed two consecutive weeks and had a wonderful time. The hotel is just minutes away from Cours Mirabeau, Hotel de Caumont, Musee Granet, rail and bus stations, in one of the most charming parts of the old city. Nearby Le Grillon and restaurant Jardin Mazarin became our favorite hangouts. This place is a highlight in our traveling experience. The two-star ranking delivered by the French government does no justice to this three-star property, but makes it affordable for you to enjoy. We will be back!

This hotel has all the charm you would expect being in such a beautiful town, and the staff was always helpful and accommodating. I would stay there again whenever in Aix!

Large room with minimal kitchenette that had “flea market” utinsels, dishes, and glassware. One wine glass, mismatched coffe cups, etc. No microwave. Shower controls were tricky with one side valve handle broken. Deferred maintenance. Check-in person didn’t provide WiFi info. Next morning I asked about it and desk person said I should have been giving it upon check-in..duh! Great bed. Fabulous location!

There is nothing really bad about this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, but our room, although adequate, was in need of attention. The Continental Breakfast was very basic (we only had it once). Location is very handy for town centre; ten minutes walk. I suppose it's a typical two star accommodation

This quaint hotel was in the quiet area of town and made for a low key stay. Loved the neighborhood and the near by restaurants and shops. The interior could use a little updating but it’s fine. The only real negative is the lack of a shower.
